It was 100 degrees out but we found some relief under the shade of these pines. Despite the heat, we had such a good time and couldn't have asked for a more peaceful setting than Cameron and Doug's beautiful house in the country. |
First, we all unleashed our inner artist and with fabric markers, dye, and needle & thread we produced some beautiful and one-of-a-kind onesies. This baby will undoubtedly be the best-dressed babe on the block. |
Next we got to work pampering the mother-to-be. After soaking her feet, she got a foot and leg massage and her toe-nails painted. |
River's nephew Luca insisted on being where the action was. He was a great help. |

I don't think River minded the attention ... |
Not quite sated by one-sie decorating, we used our left over creative juices to paint Henna on River's belly. It is never too early to expose one's child to art. |
Beautiful River and her beautiful big Henna-ed belly |

Finally, it was time for presents and cake! River got lots of great and practical gifts. And a funny cake.
The cake obviously got a lot of laughs. In case it's not obvious, it is supposed to look like an old hot tub and the writing says "There's no place like home for having a baby!" This was inspired by my own baby shower cake 10 years ago but I couldn't find a bakery to do the sculpture so Sammy and I did it ourselves the night before with marzipan. We were pretty proud of ourselves. |

Thank you so much to Cameron (sitting on the right) for hosting River's shower! |
