Mariusian

Mariusian. This is a term coined by a good friend, james (SirNicolay) to describe the shots that i usually take. Given my propensity to favor the dark and the depressing, my photo buddies now use this term whenever they see a picture that they know i will immediately like, or more likely, taken by me. See my tabblos 'uncomfortable silence' or 'portals/ portents' for hard-core Mariusian shots. haha!

 

Using pictures taken from our shoot yesterday, the tabblo here is just me toying with the term, trying if i can make Mariusian shots without the creepy hospital setting. hehe. =D

marius-sun! you make a great artictic tabblo, where present BW and color shots, but you exclusive style creates a mood of contemplation of beauty and gives time to think. Incredibly beautiful work!

Terrific, moody set. I'll add Mariusian to my vocabulary now. The last shot stands out for me. Seems to represent high tension, stress.....Near breaking point.

Don't know about dark and depressing, but they do strike me as realistic. Great tabblo.

How do you pronounce that? Mar rooos e an? I often wonder how you pull these shots off. Are they super high contrast? HDR? or what? Wanna walk down an alley with me and show me how? at any rate, they are mind blowingly cool. thank for sharing.

PAM, i think you pronounce that as mar-yoo-see-un. haha! i don't know. or however you wish you say it. hehe! as for the shots, yeah, super high contrast and i use spot or center-weighted metering. i dunno about HDR, though. =) would love to have that walk down the alley, maybe you can also show me a few of your tricks. hehe! =)
