We arrive at the port of Skagway early on the 4th day of our cruise. Here we have booked a round trip railway excursion to the summit of the White Pass and return to Skagway

We follow the river from Skagway into the valley between the mountains

We begin to climb higher and higher.....

....until we can catch a glimpse of the Pacific Ocean and the cruise ships in the port of Skagway

Hmm! ..this looks scarey..oh good....we bypass this disused bridge

phew...what's next... oh oh! ...a tunnel

Look, way up, there's another train above us!

It was just about here that two bears appeared on the track and we had to slow down and wait for them to move off.

We are approaching the summit now...here is the snow line

Here we are at the summit...this is where we will stop a while and go into a siding for other trains to pass by on their way down and then we will be ready for our return journey

These folk have obviously been told by their guide to make faces at us as they pass by...LOL!

here are a few scenes of our descent. First of all the port of Skagway, then we cross the river near the bottom of the mountain, and finally we see the river bed near the town of Skagway

Now we are ready to board our ship for the next leg of our journey!
