Awesome, they look like pics from another time, before man rwalked the earth.
Debdog said at 12:16 a.m. on Jul 22, 2008:
NIIIICE!!!!!!!! yeah, not much moss in Colorado...great shots Linda :)
AliDar said at 12:22 a.m. on Jul 22, 2008:
Ah, I remember you saying you'd make this tab! :) Great shots, and I agree, it's very beautiful but eerie. I love the shot of the big white birds in the tree with all of that stuff hanging about, seems to me something straight out of fiction. ... It reminds me a bit of the Old man's beard we have up here, but that grows in damp dank rain forests, not out in the open like this stuff does. ... Very cool!
JuDeck said at 12:29 a.m. on Jul 22, 2008:
Nice set of photography..love the 5th up from the bottom with the roadway adjacent to the river and the tree lining them both. I can just imagine sitting there on one a bench.

Thanks everyone for viewing and your comments.

Kim--Spanish moss seems to be a symbol of the south.

Marcie--these shots were taken in many places--the park near my house, a girl scout camp, and Lettuce Lake Park which is on the river and has wetlands.

Glad your enjoying them and i hope Pam likes them too.

Thanks, Marty--some of these shots are at Lettuce Lake where it probably does look like it did a thousand years ago.

Deb--no, never saw any in Colorado where Pam is, but i know you have lots of it in south Florida.

Thanks Jude. That shot is in the park down the street from me and when Max and I wlk down there we often take a break and sit on the bench and enjoy the sunset.

Dar--Those birds are Ibis and i took this shot from a canoe. It's one of my favs. Thanks.

I enjoy the eeriness of the moss so i guess that's why i have so many shots of it. The last shot of the tree is of a over a hundred year old tree. They are called grand oaks and are protected in Florida.

That tabblo puts a spell on me. That `s really a magic moss, with phantastic shots in a wonderful layout- absolutely great, Linda !!!
Wildthing said at 5:36 a.m. on Jul 22, 2008:
Beautiful, atmospheric set, Linda. I can almost see turtles snapping, gators gaping, & Swamp Thing rising up to snatch someone from a passing canoe:)
Tishfish said at 6:58 a.m. on Jul 22, 2008:
I'm like Dar, looks like an old person with a beard. My trees behind my house has it and they are very old. Lovely photos Linda. ! ! ! ! ! !
Leftofcenter said at 7:25 a.m. on Jul 22, 2008:
wasaaabiii that's a lot of moss! (does it HAVE to be SPANISH?) I like the lonely bench photo and the 3 (did I hear 3??) flamingos. I'm sure grandma will love this tab!! ;)
Pkeener said at 8:31 a.m. on Jul 22, 2008:
Grandma checking in and look what I see! This is so great !! You really captured it in it's classic beauty and then some. The old,old oaks, stumps in the bayou, in the park beside the Bayou. #6,12, &17 are my very favorites. It's 8:30 am here in VA. Already walked the dog and Carter, feed him once and now sneaking a peak at tabblo. my empathy goes out to all the mom's with babies!!

I <3 this tabblo, and am so honored to have my name in the title! Thank you, Linda!

wonder what the 3 flamingos are kvetching about?
Pkeener said at 8:32 a.m. on Jul 22, 2008:
Do they call them Bayous in Fla?
Sherlockhomes2006 said at 8:41 a.m. on Jul 22, 2008:
Moss...it's a southern thing. First time I fell in love with it was in New Orleans in the early 70's. Great collection of photos :)
Cowgirl said at 9:39 a.m. on Jul 22, 2008:

Great shots Linda!
Lifequest22 said at 11:10 a.m. on Jul 22, 2008:
Thank you everyone for your comments. Moss has been a favorite photo subject for me. So "Gone with the Wind"--ish.

KEENER--glad you like it. Since you seem to miss Louisian's Moss I thought you would enjoy a virtual tour of Florida's Spanish Moss.

The birds are IBIS--very common here in Florida. The photo with the bench is actually by the river. The Cypress shots are in SWAMPS. I think, however, that BAYOU is a term used in Louisiana and is basically similar to many of Florida's Wetlands.

MIKE-i know you love Florida's natural areas. ANGELA--Such a wonderful compliment that this tabblo "put a spell on you." Thank you. ERIC, thanks for stopping by and thanks for all your work in getting us these great formatting tools.

LEFTIE--There are other varieties of moss, but it's always been called Spanish Moss in Florida.

KARSTEN--Thanks. This moss is also found in South America and most tropical areas.

UMA, jODI,CINDY, BOBBI, DOREEN, KAM, CEILA -thanks for visiting.

This amazing place and extraordinary trees. The third photo with birds is delightful! Very unusual! Sensation of unreality and magic in each photo.

IRA--Thanks you for your wonderful words. The IBIS (birds) photo is my favorite too.

Lifequest22 said at 4:47 p.m. on Jul 22, 2008:
Thanks, PAT. I think sometimes movies have spooky night scenes with moss blowing in the wind.

Thanks, CARLOS. Quite a few of these shots were taken in the Seminole Heights area between Hillsborough Ave and MLK near Florida Ave. at two different Parks: Epps Park and River Grove. both are on the Hillsborough River. And some at Lettuce Lake Park which is on Fletcher Ave.

Thanks Connie. I was 19 on my first visit and also was enthralled by the moss. The old cypress trees are so majestic.
