kalandro and karenza~for jami

Kalandro, a 17 hand beauty

Home sweet home

Sweet boy!

Jami told me that Kalandro had been abused by another owner before he and Jami found each other.

Thanks to loving owners, these beautiful creatures can be healed with love and care.

The wind of heaven is that which blows between a horse's ears.  ~Arabian Proverb

Look back at our struggle for freedom,

Trace our present day's strength to it's source;

And you'll find that man's pathway to glory

Is strewn with the bones of the horse.

Nothing better than the green grass of home

Looking for a treat

He loves kisses

He knows when you're happy

He knows when you're comfortable

He knows when you're confident

And he always knows when you have carrots.

Karenza~Jami's mare,sweet and beautiful

See the "J" for Jami on Kalandro's forehead?

Several months ago, Jami and Kalandro had a serious "rollover' accident.

Fortunately, they are both near full recovery, and hope to be riding together this week.

They were very lucky!

We are thankful they were being watched over!

Dedicated to Jami...a friend, and "friend for life"
Jami is a nurse, who just happens to be oneof my transplant coordinators.(HI SUSAN!)
Over the past 15 months she and I have gotten to know each other better, and become friends.
She and my whole TEAM in Boca Raton, and at Shands/University of Florida were the ones who saved my life, quelled my fears, and saw me through my recovery and ongoing management after my heart transplant.
We truly are "FRIENDS FOR LIFE"...MINE! :)
I would not be here if not for their outstanding treatment and dedication.
Jami's compassion and love for her horses, shows in the treatment of her human patients!!
Jami, I hope you like the pictures of your "kids" :) Deb

Deb-friend for life-how can I ever say thank for such a wonderful gift? The pictures and words have captured a big part of me that is usually not seen by anyone else. Yes, we were very lucky to have escaped deeper injuries as Deb said. We are both nearly 100% recovered and...I rode Kalandro yesterday! He is the comic in the family-the smart one-and he stayed with me until help came. Karenza is the perceptive one and has been known to pop images of treats in my head when she desires one and when I am quiet enough to see it.
Deb-your talent and generosity are an inspiration. It is an honor to be your nurse.
Debdog said at 1:11 a.m. on Jul 24, 2008:
YAY!!!! you two rode together!! I am so happy Jami...

YOur comments are gonna make me cry...I....am honored. This is a small way of giving back to you and the MANY who helped me and continue to, in my "journey back to life"...I am glad it made you happy, and that I captured YOU! :)

The portraits are awesome! It's hard to get a great shot of a horse... and the macros of the flowers and 4-leaf clover are just great, especially with the soft blurring of the edges. Fantastic shots!
