Taming the Monkey Mind

By its very nature, the mind cannot be still - cannot be silent Our mind like the monkey jumps from thought  to thought, ever changing, analyzing, relaying, reacting, numbing and confusing, if only we can control and harness it.

"Taming the monkey mind is the act of noticing a thought without attaching to it. It’s the practice of observing a new thought without letting it take hold of you. It’s the habit of choosing to release a thought, to let it go, instead of running with it."  Venerable Thubten Chodron  author of Taming the Monkey Mind

Thank you all for your wonderful comments, appreciate them. These monkey shots were taken about 2 km. from my house near a mangrove forest and had to buy some fruits to entice them to come nearer to the ground. In the first picture you would be able to see a bulging cheek, he has got my rambutan in his mouth. In the second last picture the monkey has its mouth covered with durian.

Great shots. Ever so crispy clear images! These shots worth many times more than those fruits you bought. Never knows that animals can be bribe as well!

You live in a beautiful place if you can see 2 km of your house. Looking at them we need "know our place" and remembre who we are.
