Church on Spilled Blood

This church in Saint Petersburg, Russia, was built on the spot where Tsar Alexander II was assassinated.    It is decorated with 308 mosaics, with a total area of 6500 square meters

I'm just so awed by the amount of work and money that must have been put into a place like this. Is Saint Petersburg a wealthy city? It seems such a contrast to what i think of when I think of the economy of Russia. I would love to see a place like this in person, but probably never will. Thank you for sharing this. :)
