Preserve of Kizhi

 

A collection of structures from the Onega region to iilustrate North Russian architecture.  Situated on an island in Lake Onega.  The Transfiguration Cathedral has 30,000 aspen wood shingles on 22 cupolas.

Wow! Doesn't matter what material they have to work with... no nails? ... Amazing architecture! Just not what you think someone could come up with when you think of building in the log cabin style!
