Free food in the park

I saw an article in our local "free" newspaper titled "Serving food, not dogma".  It reported that there is a group called "Food Not Bombs" which serves food in Findlay Park every Sunday to the hungry. This is the same park which has the "free" Saturday concerts I have photographed. The first group started in Cambridge Mass and was dedicated to serving hot, healthy vegetarian meals to hungry people. It also had a political agenda dedicated to non-violence. There are groups all over the U.S.  Each group has it's own local flavor. Columbia's group is even less like other groups. The meals here are not necessarily vegetarian. The group decided by consensus to start serving meat a few years ago. One of the founders, a young college student, joked "I had to choke it down to be polite". Now meat is served. We went down to the park today to photograph the meal.  We overheard several people criticize the greens as not having enough seasoning.

Bill, this is just a fabulous tabblo. The story, the photos and the layout are just dynamite. I can't believe they complained about the greens! Every photo tells a story, I think my fave is #13, also like the cropped legs one. And, thanks to you, I am going to check out my local chapter!
