3 weeks ago while on vacation in beautiful Palm Springs, California my son, who's highly allergic to anything made of/or containing milk, had an allergic reaction to soy milk which was apparently cross-contaminated with cow's milk.  Paramedics transported him from our hotel to the hospital where he took a turn for the worse.  He stopped breathing and had to be put on a venilator to breathe.  A medical transport helicopter carrying a specialized PICU team was then called in and he was air-lifted to a children's hospital 75 miles away.  He came off of the venilator within 24 hrs. but stayed in the pediatric ICU for 3 days.   Today, he's home and healthy and no worse for wear.  I, on the other hand, will need hundreds of dollars worth of therapy and some teeny-tiny happy pills to make things all pretty and shiny again.  Oh, and did I also mention that we were rear-ended by an 18 wheeler big rig that then jack-knifed while on our way to our vacation?  Don't worry.  No one was hurt. I can't say the same though for my poor SUV.

Oh yeah.  I just love summer vacations.
