My Old Yellow Car

The old '36 Plymouth Coupe is finally finished and on the road. It made the three hour trip, partially through rain, all the way up to the cottage! (and back again...Thank goodness). My son and I followed Mike Sr. in our regular vehicle. The final paint job has yet to be applied so she is just painted in a flat yellow primer for now while my husband gives her a shakedown for the next few months. 62 years old and he finally has his first real hot rod. Way to go Mike! It was worth the seventeen year wait for the old girl to be completed. She looks and sounds hot with her little DeSoto 256 hemi engine. Zoom zoom......

Oh... I love it... and this tabblo was just like taking the trip with you... FUN!!
My girlfriend had a car just like this when we were in high school... oh the fun we had on Friday & Saturday nights... hers was painted blue (a home paint job... not too hot) and we would pool our change to buy gas at 25cents a gallon... maybe get 2 gallons for the entire evening.
Thanks for the memories!!!

Oh gosh Jodi.....gone are the days when you could go to the gas station and say "Give me 50 cents worth." $20 hardly takes the gas gauge past empty today. Gas is close to $6 a gallon here now. Yikes! Ah....how we long for "the good old days" when life was simpler and CHEAPER! LOL

Many thanks. That car was supposed to be done in 2000, but better late than never. She is a real pleasure to sit in...not at all like our '29 Model A. I used to be so sore and stiff after a couple of hours sitting in that. the Plymouth is like a modern car inside, although the interior isn't all finished yet, but the seats are comfy and it drives like a new car. We all love it!

Terrific automobile. I noticed the fork or shovel in the first pic. Not a robin in sight:)

Gosh Mike....I actually thought of you when I posted that photo. It's the same pitchfork. It also appears in the One+One+One+One Tabblo too, but with a dragonfly perched on it instead of a robin. :)

That is one neat car!! I wondered about the robin, too...thought that shovel handle looked familiar. :-)

Now that's the kind of story I like to hear! So what colour is it going to be?
