KARAKUL LAKE

Karakul Lake  is between Tashkurgan and Kashgar in west China province of Xinjiang.

It is a lake bordering Tajikstan and by far, the most maginificently beautiful lake I have seen. The altitude is about 3,500-4,000 m.

Its barren except for a few nomadic Kyrgyz families who have their farms around and will let you stay in their yurds for the night.

That is if you can avoid a ugly HOTEL, ran by a greedy chinese man.
