Hughes Brothers - Seward, NE

Sunday before last... I went to work with Dan & part of his crew... They put up Behlen Steel buildings... and for 9 years I was part of the crew, putting up steel buildings & doing cement work...

of course I had to take some photos... teehee

Looking east about 6:45 AM... foggy... I took this when I first got to work... these beams are some sort of hoist system for moving heavy things... I think... but not in use any longer by evidence of the many weeds below... I just thought it was a kind of neat morning fog photo...

Dan's crew has been putting up a new storage building for Hughes Brothers...

They had about 1/3 the roof left to do... It was a beautiful day with no wind but only 2 of Dan's guys could work so I came out of retirement to help them with the job...

In between my little "jobs" I wandered around the plant taking photos... This is at the other end of the hoist system in the 1st photo... taken about 10 AM

On the inside of the building next to the one we are putting up, looking out... well trying to... Obviously the cleaning person doesn't do windows...

More windows that have never felt the cool sensation of Windex... at least they look good with the brick...

Looking through the old building to the guys working on the roof of the new...

Here's lookin'atchoo kid... oh... I mean me ;)

Looking up...

Oh... the milkweed... with evidence of the

and some fluffy seeds........... 1st & 4th photos behind...

The way up...

A butterfly... a wildflower...

One of their many products... They also make plastic re-bar, electric power poles and a long list of other products. Hughes Brothers also helped to re-build the Pearl Harbor facility.

I think Dan said these are cross bars for those big power lines...

The main entrance to the main part of the plant...

Yes... it was Izzie's 1st day at work...

The new storage building is 180' X 60'

Just after noon, we had the roof on and Izzie & I got to go home...

All done but the trim... (horrible slanted picture taken from my car as we left... I almost forgot to take it)

Kind of a boring tabblo... but I got really "in" to taking photos of the plant, dirty windows etc... reminded me of Matt's hospital tabblo & some of the others people have done.  Thanks for looking... ;p

What an interesting tabblo, not only good photos but excellent narrative to go with them. I think I mean the other way around ie excellent photos, good narrative. whatever, I think you did a super job with difficult material. I love the first shot followed by the brick matching windows and mustn't forget, Izzie!!

I really enjoyed this. Amazed that all those dirty windows are still intact. Bet Izzie had a good scout round with so many new smells to explore.

Great combination of images, the reflections and the shades do a special effect to the photographies .. your pet gives him a personal touch and the nature gives him the air and the freedom to the factory or store .... great work Jodi ..........................( Gran combinación de imágenes ,,los reflejos y las sombras hacen un efecto especial a las fotografías ..tu mascota le da un toque personal y la naturaleza le da el aire y la libertad a la fabrica o almacén ....gran trabajo Jodi )

Excellent tabblo, photographs and captions. The contrasts between old and new, clean and dirty, nature and the material world. Far from boring you have made a very interesting tabblo.
