I'm so sad that this photo didn't turn out good... It is the farm where Dan grew up between Aurora & Hampton, NE... |

Sunday, August 17, 2008... Friends of ours who own a plane invited us to go with them to a "fly-in"... Pilot groups or airports have these for fund raisers & just fun. We flew out to Hyannis, NE with them for breakfast. Hyannis is located out in the Nebraska sandhills, a 263 mile drive by car which would take at least 4 1/2 hours with no stops. We flew out in about 1 1/2 hours, leaving York around 7 Am... Once at the Hyannis airport we had breakfast, did a lot of talking to other pilots & local people, looked at the many other planes that had flown in and then flew home... We were home around 1 PM. What a fun, FUN time. |

A = York... C = Hyannis We flew approximately this route out... On the way home we went southeast to North Platte & then followed the interstate & Platte River home... |

As we leave, there's York , top right of photo... It was quite hazy out & foggy in the valleys... |

Here we are... me & Dan... |

Our friends... Roddy & John in front of their 6 passenger Beechcraft Bonanza... |

Just a little farm on the other side of the runway... with some of the beautiful Nebraska Sandhills behind... |

A look inside John's plane... |

WOW... A real Nebraska cowboy... on a horse!! |

Lots of people showed up for breakfast... biscuits & gravy or egg burritos... juice & coffee... |

I guess if you have fancy boots like this you don't hide them under your jeans... |

This cowboy even had his 6 shooter along... |

I found out just why cowboys wear boots... when I found this sticking into my big toe... |

Prickly pear cactus... These gave the Lewis & Clark expedition much trouble... |

On the way home we flew over Dan & my favorite fishing spots... here & below is Jeffery Reservoir lake... south of Brady, NE |
