One of the best things to do when one visits the Bohol Province in the Philippines is to visit the town of Loboc and ride one of the "floating restaurants"--these big rafts, accommodating around 20-40 customers, wade through the lengthy Loboc River for around an hour while customers enjoy the sights of nature and the buffet being offered during the trip.
Part of the trip is a stop-over which features a group of choir stationed at a float at the middle of the river course. These entertainers perform native Boholano and Filipino songs and the national dance tinikling--performed with two lengthy bamboo trunks being struck together as the dancing pair dips and avoids getting their feet being stuck or hit by the same bamboo trunks. |
