Blues... 4am

After 'Fiddle Frenzy' last month, I've had more late nights... (4am, etc)

At the Shetland Blues Festival this week we had great line up of international blues musicians including Steve Phillips who is best known for being a member of the Notting Hillbillies with Mark Knopfler.

Virtuoso keyboard player Daniel Smith, Paul Lamb & the King Snakes, the hypnotic 'Black River Bluesman and the Croaking Lizard' from Finland were all outstanding.

The Hokum Hotshots 'blues with a smile on it's face' proved that blues can be fun.

During their stay here, the Hotshots went around the local schools to let the children hear 'live' blues music ranging from vaudeville to ragtime, swing to urban blues of the 1940s (and they gave out kazoos to all the kids, too, so that they could join in! Thanks, guys.)

There were too many others to mention here...

Daniel, Steve and Paul played a free afternoon session in a local bar for some lucky customers.

While recovering from all this and trying to find a cure for headache, hangover, etc, I had an email from my friend Jan this afternoon, it simply read:

"candle... both ends."

Oh, I'm going back to bed...

TTFN,

R.

Terrific set. Sounds like the aqua-vitae was flowing, and you got bitch-fou:) No sympathy for your hangover, it was self-inflicted.

@Wildthing: People kept buying drinks for me - and it seemed rude to refuse them... <grin>
BTW, Steve Phillips comes from Robin Hoods Bay, which is not too far from York.
