Devil's Tower

We took a side-trip to Devil's Tower in northeastern Wyoming. The tower is WAAAYYY out in the middle of nowhere, and the whole park is only about 1-2 square miles.

You can hike a (paved!) trail all the way around the tower, and the whole thing is only about a mile.

There were about 10 people climbing Devil's Tower on the day that we were there. The strange thing was that you could really easily hear them talking, even when they were a couple hundred feet up the cliff.

Some of the pictures near the bottom of page show what the terrain around Devil's Tower looks like. You'll notice that the Parks Service does a fair amount of "prescribed burns" in the area.

Great shots! It almost looks like a giant petrified tree stump.
