Remember

July 1992, on the return ferry from a visit to Ellis Island.

For a nine-year-old, it was like being on top of the world.

On March 22, 1986, I went with my family to the

Twin Towers’ observation deck.

I took photos of the Twin Towers in the late nineties. Every time I see pics of the towers, now, a mixed bag of emotions hit me like a truck, leaving me feeling a little down & very angry.

Wow two TODs in a row! :) Congrats, Saul! :)

I've never made the ToD the same person two days in a row, but I think this is appropriate. I searched through all the Tabblos dealing with 9/11 and this one fit me just right. It's reflective but it's not angry and it's nostalgic without being gratuitous. Thanks.

I do remember, I was guiding americans (from nyc) in Stockholm that day. Hearing the news on the radio in the car, having to translate.. They tried to call friends and family, but couldn't get through.. It was lika a nightmare.. But your tabblo is about life, congrats to the ToD! :)

Thanks, everyone. The top photo was scanned right from the negative. The other two were stapled into an "autobiography" we had to write in fifth grade, and I simply photographed the page. In that autobiography we had to describe the "best day of our lives thus far", and that's where I describe going to the observation deck. I grew up in Brooklyn and could see the Twin Towers, small and way off in the distance, from home. The great thing about it was that you were on the roof, out in the open. (There was also an enclosed viewing area a floor below.) From what I have read, the plans for the "Freedom Tower's" observation deck do not call for it to be outdoors, which is a shame.

I completely agree with Mr. Fosters 'nod' Yours IS BY FAR the most gentle and subtle tribute to this day of days! We all remember privately now and in a way I hope remembers the past yet looks to a brighter future. For those who lost loved ones 'On that Day' ~leonard cohen.....we SHALL NEVER FORGET YOUR LOSS and hope time has healed to some degree and kept your spirits bright. luv from PMC

It just dawned on me that this is a tribute to the 9/11 tragedy. *stupid me*

Even though I am not an American, I was really affected by the 9/11 event. I remember exactly the time when my friend called me up to watch CNN. I couldn't believe that I was watching a "real event." It is indeed true that reality is more frightening than fiction.

That time I said my prayers intensely. I was afraid for the consequences. I was very sorry for the victims and their families.

Thank you for this tabblo. It also made me remember how life goes by so quickly and that events like the 9/11 should be remembered with deep reverence and respect.
