UNKNOWN FUNGI
COMMENTS
Tishfish said at 2:51 p.m. on Sep 13, 2008:
These are just a few of the fungi that I discovered on the long weekend at my friends cottage. I would like to know if any of them are edible and what their names are.
Lifequest22 said at 2:54 p.m. on Sep 13, 2008:
I have no idea doreen, but good shots. I think the bottom right is some sort of lichen.
Tishfish said at 2:56 p.m. on Sep 13, 2008:
That's what I thought it was, but it must have to dry because it is just as moist as the others.
Hollyridger said at 2:56 p.m. on Sep 13, 2008:
Wow, what a collection! Sorry, I am not able to help you identify them but eventually someone on tabblo will know exactly what they are, I am sure.
Tishfish said at 2:57 p.m. on Sep 13, 2008:
I hope so because the 8th one looks like it may be chantrells.
Mirella said at 3:12 p.m. on Sep 13, 2008:
They are so beautiful, but I wouldnt' dare to eat them.....They told me that generally the most coloured are the most dangerous .Bellissime foto. Ciao
YorkJodi said at 3:14 p.m. on Sep 13, 2008:
Cool photos... pretty colors... I don't know mushrooms though...
Tishfish said at 3:15 p.m. on Sep 13, 2008:
Thank you Mirella. I wouldn't eat them unless I knew for what they were. I know the chipmunks love them.
Ira said at 3:21 p.m. on Sep 13, 2008:
Autumn tabblo. I know about very little mushrooms and I am not able them to collect. But here absolutely unknown:)
Tishfish said at 4:05 p.m. on Sep 13, 2008:
Thank you Jodi and Ira.
Loes said at 4:49 p.m. on Sep 13, 2008:
These are beautiful Doreen, don't know what the names are.
Tishfish said at 6:04 p.m. on Sep 13, 2008:
Thank you Loes and Reta. There are so many different kinds of fungi down there, I haven't even begun to snap them all.
Jantass said at 8:14 p.m. on Sep 13, 2008:
GREAT VARIETY OF FUNGI AND COLOR... EXCELLENTE TABBLO
Memotions said at 6:26 a.m. on Sep 14, 2008:
I don't know the specific names of each fungi, but as far as the groups go...you have some fine examples of gilled fungi and bracket fungi. Some great finds here Doreen!
Memotions said at 6:29 a.m. on Sep 14, 2008:
By the way, the bottom right looks more like a type of bracket fungi rather than a lichen. Dang! My fungi book is at the cottage so I can't look these up for you......guess I could go online, but don't have the time right now. Happy mushroom hunting, Doreen!
Memotions said at 6:30 a.m. on Sep 14, 2008:
PS If we could see more of the stem and underside of each, it makes identification a bit easier.
Tishfish said at 6:51 a.m. on Sep 14, 2008:
Thank you Patty. Some of them didn't seem to have much of a stem, perhaps further underground, I should have taken a little stick with me to uncover them further. The area has these very talllllllllll trees and the type of ground, as you can see, supports fungi like these. That's a good idea to go on line. I will do that.

Let me try :)
1, 2, 7 - look like Amanita muscaria, washed out by rainwater
3 - Pholiota sqarrosa
10 - Thelephora terrestris
12, 16 - Russula sp.
13 - Hygrocybe coccineocrenata
15 - I'd say Lactarius vellereus (if it had milk)

Very nice shots !
Hollyridger said at 11:09 a.m. on Sep 14, 2008:
Wow, Tommy, I am impressed! I am sure Doreen will be thrilled to have her photos identified.

Tishfish said at 9:11 a.m. on Sep 20, 2008:
Thank you Deb and Dar. I would never eat them unless I saw someone else eat them and then I would give it a long time to see if they were allright before I would eat them.
