Wazir Khan Mosque - Lahore

 

Arguably, this colorfully tiled and tattooed little mosque in Pakistan should get more world attention than it does.

 

It was built during the reign of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in 1634-1635.

 

Shah Jahan also built the Taj Mahal, its twin in India, which gets ALL the attention.

 

Life is not fair sometimes, even for old buildings...

It is just amazing to me how people could build such fabulous buildings in the 1600's without the tools & equipment we have today... I think it would be hard today to duplicate... but then... WOW!!
Thanks for sharing this fabulous building... sad it is not so well known.
