Riverwalk Life with the New Nikon D90

I had an hour to kill this afternoon so I took a walk by the river in Jenks. At first glance there was not much to take pictures of besides a very high and muddy river. But I was determined to find something interesting to photograph.

I looked up and noticed that the entire underside of the bridge is lined with what looks like magpie nests. Then I ventured into the brush a little to take pictures of the sunflowers. The new Nikon D90 kit zoom is very suited for family life, but not so much for wildfe, so you have to get pretty close to capture the bees! I quickly decided I might slip into the river and ruin my new camera! Albeit minus the bees, the river made a nice backdrop for this sunflower picture.

The dragonflies were aplenty, but flighty. However, this dragonfly ate a whole ladybug while I snapped away! You can see the ladybug wings in this shot. I guess he was just too hungry to be bothered with me. I didn't realize dragonflies ate ladybugs! It made for a good discussion with my 5 year old.
