Shawangunk Grasslands National Wildlife Refuge

The Shawangunk Grasslands National Wildlife Refuge was formerly the Galeville Military Airport.

The Airport was built in the 1940's to train pilots for World War II.  In the mid 1990's, the Fish and Wildlife Service took control of the lands and created the Refuge.
