Eurotrip 2002 Day 2: Celle

Celle is a small town northeast of Hannover. It's recent claim to fame was that it was the HQ for the British occupation forces after WWII (the entire north part of West Germany was part of the British sector). The Brits couldn't have picked a nicer town!

I rented a car and drove past lots of wind farms on my way to Celle. This is pretty much what the world looks like whether you live in the Netherlands or northern Germany or Poland. It's flat flat flat with trees planted along the roads and highways.

It had been raining on and off that day. April is a great time to visit northern and central Europe because it's super cheap and there are hardly any tourists. However, you have to deal with the rain a lot. Temperaturewise it's actually great for travel... but it's wet wet wet.

Sunny city hall, 30 minutes later

Stay tuned for Day 3 when I drive into the heart of Europe and visit Dresden and an enormous fortress in Saxony.

You should become a travel writer. You should read Steinbeck's "Travels with Charley."
