The beach beneath the bridge...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deception_Pass

Under the Deception Pass Bridge you will find one of the most charming beaches in the whole world~

"Little North Beach".

A little walk through the woods and down to the beach~

Brothers

Ancient art of "toss the rock through the hole in log"~

Must find just the right size...

The average native "Anacortisan" has an extreme facination with beach rocks and enjoys endless hours tossing and skipping  these rocks into the water...

Easily entertained...

It looks easier than it is~~~

My oldest son Gabe strolling the beach~

My son Micah skipping rocks

Beach of my childhood

I gaze in wonder

to see

that this place has the same effect

on you as it has on me...

Continued

Is the magic in the rocks?

In the wild cry of  gulls?

In the emerald sea lapping gently

on the shore?

Whatever it is ~ it's a part of me

and I feel it...here in my heart...

deep down in my memory~

Lovely photos of a lovely place ... one of my favorite beaches to explore, by the way, when I had opportunity to be up that way when living in Portland. On a more technical note, nice perspectives in the photos.

Deserted beach and ideal form a stone - perfect composition. Very romantic. A place for a relaxation and rest of soul.

This is gorgeous Rhonda! It has peace and happiness throughout and the rocks give the whole tabblo great structure!
Welshchick said at 10:36 a.m. on Sep 26, 2008:
Hi Annelies~ It's Deception Pass Bridge and here is how it got that daunting title~~~~ In the spring of 1792, Joseph Whidbey, master of the HMS Discovery and Captain Vancouver's chief navigator, sailed through the narrow passage that is now called Deception Pass and proved that it was not really a small bay as charted by the Spaniards (hence the name "Deception"), but a deep and turbulent channel that connects the Strait of Juan de Fuca with the Saratoga Passage~~~~ Hows that for a history lesson? (Yep, I did google it because I have heard different stories...) My oldest son Gabe is always so nice to take my pic~ my son Joel does too but he stayed home with Lucy this time~ Thank you and I hope you're having a fun vacation!

Welshchick said at 2:46 p.m. on Sep 26, 2008:
Hey Mike...now that's an idea except ...there are some crazy currents and wicked whirlpools right through that pass...I've seen ships struggle going through there~ not a prime spot for dangling...:^) still, it would be a great tabblo! :^D
Welshchick said at 2:58 p.m. on Sep 26, 2008:
Thank you Woody~ I put the camera down close to the ground...it's hard to get a bad shot here because everywhere you look you find beauty...each rock is a unique treasure~ P.S. Skipping stones adds years to your life :^)
Welshchick said at 3:06 p.m. on Sep 26, 2008:
Hi Doreen, yes, it appears private now that the summer season is fading...there was a little family having a picnic there~A FABULOUS PLACE to PINIC~ Maybe this is where we should have our international Tabblo party?!!! :^D Hi Robya, Fidalgo Island is North of Seattle in the San Juan Islands...about 5 hours drive from Portland...it's COLD but fresh, green and gorgeous! Thank you both~

I was in this so I should certainly comment. I also took some of the ones my mom obviously didn't take. My favorite area was and is the pre-beach woods; it's dinosaur-y and I want it and now I have it, kinda. Hey everyone, did you know that 4 out of 5 trees in the northwest (of the US) are Douglas Firs? I can't actually confirm that, but my brother told me. He knows a lot about trees.
Thechillofeons said at 2:44 a.m. on Sep 27, 2008:

Oh I love this beach, the beautiful rocks... I must have some "native Anacortisan" deep in my soul for I would spend hours here, picking up the lovely rocks... (this is just like my favorite beach in New Zealand where I picked up many lbs. of rocks until Dan said, "ENOUGH")
Welshchick said at 1:38 p.m. on Sep 29, 2008:
How cute! It reminds me of that Lucille Ball movie "The long long trailer" ;^D That's what I love about this beach...these magic rocks... - each one a little wonder calling you to explore and admire. Thanks Jodi~

I love this tabblo and am adding it as a fave. I spent part of the weekend at a beach in the Finger Lakes of Central New York that is part of me as well. I deeply understand the rocks, the smell and sound of the water, the birds that call it home as you describe so well in image and verse.
Welshchick said at 2:25 p.m. on Sep 30, 2008:
Hi Paul, yes, it gets into your soul I think~a definite understanding~Thank you my friend
