These were shot at the Chicago Botanical Gardens last summer (2008). It was a little windy, and moments later rain drenched the gardens.

Tunderke said at 1:48 a.m. on Sep 30, 2008: Fun to see edited versions. I wish u could posted the original photo. It would be much more fun to see why do u choose this editing versions. Love the tree the background. Makes the picture more meanningfull. Standing tree that would be there many years and the tulip is just stay a little time like a visitor. Love the story of ur picture. Kiss
Leftofcenter said at 7:46 a.m. on Sep 30, 2008: I usually go for the B&W but in this case the color version is the prettiest. the flower looks drenched and shivery.
Chaitiamma said at 10:07 a.m. on Sep 30, 2008: Very nice tabblo !!!
Siagian said at 11:26 a.m. on Sep 30, 2008: Thank you everyone!
PATTY: i think its a tulip, but im not sure. the pond is partly hidden behind the tree. its out of focus so not very obvious.
PAM: thanks thats what i was going for!
SD14: i had the same idea but time was an issue (especially when traveling in a larger group!). the gardens are huge--one would need maybe a week to see everything!
TUNDE: i like your insight! i did try to contrast the three things not only photographically but also emotionally. the originals look very much like the "color version" even though these are all different photos. my editing process is simple--i try it in sepia, BW and color then try to decide which one looks better. in this case i couldnt decide so i tried all three! =)
DINY, DEN, IRA, LINDA, TEO, SONIACAL, JANE, ANNELIES: thank you, i did attempt to convey the flower as dreamy, fragile, tender, etc... but at the same time to do it with the least amount of feeling possible.
EVERYONE: thank you for your kind words. =)
AliDar said at 4:18 p.m. on Oct 1, 2008: Nice attention to a single flower, and how different treatment, can convey different emotions. I like the detail in the first sepia and the last colour shots, but the different close ups, and croppings , for some reason, seem to focus the viewers attention on something other than just what we see. ... and this isn't just one shot, is it? Close enough to feel like it is, and the changed angle of the flower adds to feeling conveyed. Excellent study, Woody. :)

Siagian said at 1:15 p.m. on Oct 2, 2008: DAR: you are absolutely correct, each photo is a different shot and with the help of tabblo editing, i cropped a couple of them to give a different viewpoint.
ALBERT: thank you.
