Nimpo Lake - Days 11 & 12

Our last day at Nimpo lake was a beautiful day, just like all the others. Fizz was doing great and we no longer had to watch her as closely, just had to make sure she didn't go in for a swim or run off chasing a squirrel. I had been meaning to take my camera out on the lake with me, but I keep putting it off because I had been so busy catching fish and eating them. But now that we had our fill of trout and still had a couple in the cooler to take away with us, it had to be then or never.

I never did get a good shot of a float plane overhead like I had hoped, and we didn't get into Anahim, Bella Coola, or spend a day in Tweedsmuir Provincial Park, like we had planned.

I never got to see a mountain sheep, or try my luck with panning for gold either, ... but I found something more valuable; I found enough peace of mind to once more recognize myself, and I felt enough gratitude for the things that are good in this world to truly believe once again, that life really IS good!

A wonderful trip, enhanced by your journal. That lake is truly a place of beauty & serenity amid the hustle & bustle of day to day life. Hate to piv fave pics, but the reeds & their reflection is a work of art. Thanks for taking me along to Nimpo Lake. Can hardly wait for your next trip.

Thank you everyone! ERIC, a TOD on the first and last of this series is a nod to the whole effort. Thank you! :) MIKE, TEO, and EDUARDO, the reed shot is Alison's favorite of what I took, and the paddle shot is mine, but I can see how much better each of those would be when I'm able to have more control over what I'm capturing, ... a bit more focus on just the right spot, more attention to the exposure and depth of field, then I'd be able to agree that 'art' had something to do with it. :)

JANER, Thank you for popping in, and I'm please that I was able to convey enough so you were able to feel like you were on vacation too. Thank you.

MOM, I KNOW you would have enjoyed it as much as I! At least I got to share it with you through these tabs. :)

BOBBIE, thanks for sticking with me with all of these, and I'm please you like my zen fishing rod shot! :)
You too, CELIA, and everyone else who stuck with the story. I got myself into a long haul when I began this series with the daily journal entries. It was difficult to keep them consistent, document the trip, include photos that I thought were interesting enough and good, and still, consider the interest and staying power of my viewers, the fact that most of you allowed me the privilage to share ALL of this with you means so much to me. Thank you. :)

UMAIR, nature never ceases to amaze me either. Thank you for your compliment. :) THIERRY, Thank you, sublime is how I would decribe the beauty of the place as well. SUE, gotta love those reflections! Thank you for coming to visit! :)

JUDE, I'm pleased that my sharing this with you made you feel something of what I was feeling. I'm looking forward to the day when I'll be the one to compliment you on your ability to convey such an experience. I can just imagine the photos you'd come up with... Thank you. :)

JODI, Thanks for coming! :)

LINDA, leisurely is how they were taken, and a fitting compliment that you would want to view them that way, thank you!

ANNELIES, Thanks, ... you know, you weren't that far away when you were in Jasper, just one long days drive, or a couple more leisurely days away. Hope to go to Jasper one day myself, saw it from an airplane once, and even from there it looked incredible.

Thanks DEN! And DEB, your enthusiasm overwhelms me, thank you. I can just imagine the photos you find in such a place!

Thanks Woody. :) Now that I'm finished with this series I have the leisure to view everyone elses tabs. ... I think there are a few of yours that I missed while I was away, and I'm looking forward to seeing them.

IRA, once again I find that even with their translation, your comments ring true, and I know you have an understanding of what I'm trying to communicate. Thank you.

Thanks Kelly! I just found your work on tabblo, and now that I've finished this task I set out to do, I'm looking forward to viewing more of what you do.

Thank you Saul, I like that one too! :)

And again, thank you all very much for allowing me to share all of this with you. :)

Congrads onTOD.What I wouldn't give to have an adventure like this once in a lifetime.Next I would like to have your eyes to capture all the beautiful photos and be able to tell the story like you did.I feel that I shared parts of this adventure with you.You know your stuff with the Kayak.I would probably get so excited catching a big trout, that overboard I would go.Thanks for sharing your photos and the stories to go along with them. You have such writing skills.
Sirnicolay said at 7:35 p.m. on Oct 1, 2008:
GORGEOUS! THis is definitely one of your best tabblos, Dar. What a beautiful place. :) COngrats on TOD! :) Please do share this in the TOD group. :)
AliDar said at 7:52 p.m. on Oct 1, 2008:
Thank you Manuel, Sheila, Sandy, and James. ... Nah, Sandy, you wouldn't fall overboard when you caught a fish; the fishing kayak is too broad, can't tip it. The only worry you'd have would be forgetting to secure the paddle before you reached for the rod. ... Now that would be funny. Great big fish flapping around in the boat, while you paddle with your hands to retrieve your paddle. ... btw, do those things float? <G>
Cowgirl said at 8:16 p.m. on Oct 1, 2008:

hey, another TOD from your trip!! congratulations!!! this is a beautifully constructed tabblo with beautifully executed shots everywhere. =) the feeling of peace and serenity permeates the entire work, it's almost palpable, contagious even. thank you for sharing your trip with us. for me, a great vacation spot should always have a body of water. and seeing Nimpo lake is such a welcome experience for me, being the "beach bunny" that i am, so to speak. hehe! =) to pick a fave, the photo of the reeds is truly dazzling, but the two photos below it are my faves here. the composition and light exudes harmony and calm. congratulations again!!! =)
AliDar said at 12:54 a.m. on Oct 2, 2008:

Dar, this gentle refreshing tabblo is such a blessing...and your words match the gentleness~~~Congratulations!
I LOVE all of the photos but something about the "fuzzpuppy" gazing at the sun in the water...and then curled up snoozing...and the oar dipping into the lake...well...pretty amazing!!! :^)
Swedfinn said at 7:35 a.m. on Oct 2, 2008:

Fantastic photos of a fantastic , really relaxing place....this place has got to be the exact polar opposite of Tokyo.... On viewing your photos -as a Tokyoite - one question immediately comes to mind....where are the people ?
Chaitiamma said at 10:06 a.m. on Oct 2, 2008:
Such a serene enviroment. Great Tabblo !!!
PaulBarfoot said at 10:53 a.m. on Oct 2, 2008:
like the rest of the series - a fave!
AliDar said at 2:38 p.m. on Oct 2, 2008:
Thank you Angela, Nicolayskee, Rhonda, Jorma, Mirella, Charles, David, and Paul! :) CHARLES, it does seem like the exact polar opposite of Tokyo, doesn't it?! The people were there, mostly other visitors like us. Tourism BC says that the area population ranges from 1200 people in winter to some 1500 people in summer. Of course we didn't see all of them. the place is big enough to give everyone the solitude that they are looking for. The Nimpo Lake road has recently been paved, however, so I'm hoping that the improved accessibility doesn't turn it into cottage country, or even worse, a fully incorporated town, complete with mini malls and shopping plazas!
Tishfish said at 2:47 p.m. on Oct 2, 2008:
You will have to go back again next year, minus the fish hook, and get more wonderful pictures Dar.
Hollyridger said at 3:40 p.m. on Oct 2, 2008:
Dar, I am ashamed that I didn't get around to posting a comment on this truly wonderful last addition to your beautiful series. I will be back later but one question, how many photos did you take in total and how manay found their way to tabblo?
AliDar said at 4:04 p.m. on Oct 2, 2008:
Mom we're hoping to go back again, but maybe not next year. First we have to pay off the debt we incurred with this trip, ... and yep, without the bait hooks, that didn't end up catching any fish anyway, the trip would be alot less expensive! :)

Noreen, I took just under 1600 photos, and Alison took about 1200. We brought along an inverter so that we could plug in to the car's cigarette lighter and charge our camera batteries, and Alison brought along her laptop so we didn't have to worry about filing up our cards. - 160 photos posted in 8 tabblos.... but I still haven't posted the good ones we took on the trip home, ... and then there's that piece I was thinking of doing about the pine beetle.... <sheepish grin>

And no need to apologize about having missed seeing this tab. I get confused with so many of them as well. :)
