Titus is really into Ramakien (the Thai version of the Indian Ramayana; see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramakien). We must have at least 10 books telling different (kid-version) parts of the story.  He really likes the epic war between Good and Evil.  His classmates also like the story and planned to have a school play about it.  Titus got to be Phra Ram (the leader of the good side.)  Unfortunately, the show was cancelled when it was obvious that the kids concentrated too much on the melee battles, and nothing about the story.  Maybe the play will be on next year when the children can curb their enthusiasm a bit.

Mama Aor brought the three kids (Titus, Tatia, and Tanya) to the Emerald Buddha Temple (Wat Phra Kaew: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wat_Phra_Kaew) to see the mural paintings of the story--all 178 panels of it.  Mama Aor got the bright idea to get a knowledgeable guide to show us around.  We spent 30 minutes to see other beautiful parts of the temple and spent an hour to listen to the guide about Ramakien.  She had to squeeze the whole story into an hour for Titus.  Titus was very interested--he had a lot of questions about who each character on the wall is and why things happen the way they do.  Tatia and Tanya are too young to understand the story but they can get to see beautiful art and architecture of Thailand.

ธีธัชหลงใหลในเรื่อง รามเกียรติ์มาก เรามีหนังสือนิทานเกี่ยวกับรามเกียรติ์ ซึ่งเป็นตอนสั้นๆ อยู่เป็นสิบเล่ม อาจจะเป็นเพราะเนื่อเรื่องที่เกี่ยวกับการต่อสู้ระหว่างฝ่ายดีและฝ่ายร้ายทำให้เด็กผู้ชายจึงชอบมากเป็นพิเศษ แม้แต่เพื่อนๆธีธัชที่โรงเรียนก็ชอบกันมาก ถึงกับจะจัดการแสดงเรื่องรามเกียรติ์ในงานแสดงผลงานนักเรียนเลยทีเดียว และแน่นอนที่ธีธัชเลือกที่จะเป็นพระรามซึ่งเป็นพระเอกของเรื่อง แต่เสียดายที่หลังจากคุณครูเห็นการซ้อมแล้ว ขอเก็บการแสดงชุดนี้ไว้ปีหน้า เพราะเนื่องจากฝ่ายดีและฝ่ายร้ายตะลุมบอนสู้กันจนไม่รู้ใครเป็นใคร

ดังนั้น แม่อ้อเลยจัดทริปพาลูกทั้งสามคน ไปเที่ยววัดพระแก้วกัน โดยไฮไลท์ของทริปนี้ คือ จิตรกรรมฝาผนังเรื่องรามเกียรติ์ ซึ่งมีถึง 178 ตอน แม่อ้อผู้ชาญฉลาดลงทุนจ้างมัคคุเทศน์เพื่อมาเล่านิทานให้ธีธัชฟัง เราใช้เวลาอยู่ในวัดพระแก้วชั่วโมงครึ่ง โดยครึ่งชั่วโมงนั้นสำหรับการชมความวิจิตรของพระอุโบสถ พระที่นั่ง และพระแก้วมรกต ส่วนเวลาที่เหลืออีกหนึ่งชั่วโมงถูกใช้ไปในการเล่าเรื่องรามเกียรติ์ประกอบภาพให้ธีธัชฟัง จริงๆก็สงสารมัคคุเทศน์ของเราเหมือนกัน เพราะถ้าเป็นนักท่องเที่ยวกลุ่มอื่นคงไม่ต้องพูดมากขนาดนี้ แต่นี่เหมือนเล่านิทานซัก 20 เล่มให้เด็กฟังใน 1 ชั่วโมงเลย ธีธัชก็ตั้งใจฟังมาก ถามอยู่ตลอดเวลาว่านี่คือตัวอะไร ทำไมเป็นแบบนั้น ส่วนธัชธีญา กับธัญญาถึงแม้ยังไม่เข้าใจเรื่องรามเกียรติ์ แต่ก็ได้สัมผัสกับศิลปะและสถาปัตยกรรมอันสวยงามและน่าภูมิใจของไทย
