Appreciation Day :)

Every year, our school celebrates its Teachers' Day or what we call Appreciation Day. The students this year chose the theme of "Vacation" and early in the morning before we logged in for work, we were greeted Hawaiian style--with a serenade and a necklace of flowers. There was a mini-program for the teachers inside the classroom in the first few hours of the day, then we were brought to the gym where the students showcased their talents through songs and dance and even a few videos to show how they appreciate their teachers. Then during lunchtime, the students served as our waiters and our overall entertainers. This happens just once a year, so most teachers look forward to this event. During this time also, we are usually given small tokens and a few letters from our current students. We read words of appreciation and love(? haha), and a few teachers even cry while reading these letters.

Events like this make teaching SO worthwhile. I won't ever get rich by teaching, but thinking about the minds I have molded, the lives I have touched, I just cannot ask for more. It's paradise on earth. :)

Teachers are one of the most important people in a child's life and usually very under appreciated...
and underpaid... What a wonderful thing for the children to do, having a day of appreciation & party... This would be nice for all schools & students to do... great idea!! Wonderful tabblo... should have gotten TOD... what were they thinking these last couple of days... they missed a couple great tabs for less then great choices... ;(

... And to be touched back by those lives, and be told that what you are giving is appreciated, ... you're right, I don't believe there's any reward that could be greater. ... Just once a year, but I'm sure the effects linger on in the hearts of the teachers and the students for a long time. I would have really liked to have had an opportunity like this to tell some of the teachers I had growing up with how they touched me. What a good teacher gives lasts more than a year; it lasts a life time. Kudos James. :)

you must be a "dope" teacher! :) i know i still remember the teachers that "touched" my life is some way from when I was a tiny kid...

Love this! The shot of the kids on stage with the yellow rafters making a happy exclamation point!

Teachers are what hold us all together. The good ones do more that we ever realize. And you are one of them. in fact, I consider myself a student of yours...Thank you!
