BooRay said at 12:01 p.m. on Oct 5, 2008: Great capture! I'm sue it will be the site of a salvage operation in the near future.
Chaitiamma said at 12:09 p.m. on Oct 5, 2008: Thank you Den and BooRay. This is the last of the tin dredge left in the small town of Tanjung Tualang, Perak, Malaysia. The local authority is planning to turn this tin dredge into a Tin Dredging Industry Museum. Hope they have enough fund to maintain the whole operation.

Dromoman said at 10:09 p.m. on Oct 6, 2008: This is nice work. I come from Ipoh - the town that TIN MINES built and haven't seen this up close.
Where is this?
It looks familiar though - I think same abandoned mine used in this film "goodbye Boys" by Bernard Chauly - you have to dig it out. Film is not that great though -- your photos are a great capture.
Chaitiamma said at 1:36 p.m. on Oct 7, 2008: Thanks Yong. This tin dredge is coded TT5 for Tanjung Tualang No.5, but it is now the only one left in Malaysia.
Pkeener said at 3:12 p.m. on Oct 8, 2008: powerful composition. exciting to view all the photos like this. the red wheel is great popping up here and there, and i like the mix of sepia tone with the color. This is a wonderful tabblo. your photos are very good. I hope the museum opens, otherwise, all this stuff would become trash. thank you!
