gently down the stream

the adventure begins.

cruisin'...

the two captains, planning the trip...

do i really have to paddle?

watch out for those low hanging, wet and slimy branches! grossss!

steady as she goes...

are we there yet?

this is actually kinda fun...

i'm tired.

watch out for those trees!

dude, you're going the wrong direction man...

how about a kiss?

these canoes are a little wobbly...

i'm bored....

we finally made it to the end. and without any untoward incidents either i might add.

thanks Chet and Florita...!

inspite of the constant mosquito attacks, and the bizarre sighting of a half-floating half sunken port-a-john we had a great time and are planning for a second adventure (the promise of more sparkling wine and coconut cookies had nothing to do with this decision).

You've conveyed the feeling of adventure and the dark colors made my spine tingle! Was half expecting something to jump out of the water and grab an oar! I guess I've watched too many horror movies. on the other hand, I really love the relections off the water. Thank for sharing your adventure!

Nice set. The darkness and reflections set the mood. I too was half expecting to see something happen: Like a Hollywood-sized croc to break the surface and swallow up one of the canoes. :)

Excellent photos... love the colors & reflections... the red of the canoes made for perfect photos...
Looks like a fun day...

I very much like these dark and bright colours of your photos. And sensation of driving in a boat:)

Woody!! so cute and clever. the photos are excellent, the point of view really drew me in. The last shot is so great. Oh, and by the way...I see you were the slacker in the back not paddleing. =-)

love the pallete. the red white and blue really strike me. and weird that the canoes matched the clothes..

Thank you ALL for the kind words. =)

NOREEN: they were wet and slimy from hanging down inside the river...kinda icky i know!

ANDRE, DEN, JODI, IRA: thank you...!

MARIUS: you really should..its a great way to spend the weekend--bring plenty of bug spray though!

CLYDO, MIKE: i was thinking about "encouraging" some kind of "incident" at the time but wisely changed my mind...i literally woulda been in hot soup!

PAM: its a little inconvenient for the camera guy to do the paddling dont you agree? LOL! anyway we were going downstream so the forward motion was there...just had to steer clear of the hanging branches and fallen trees.

PAM: its interesting you noticed that Chets red shirt closely matched the canoe color... =)

LINDA, SUE, JAMES: thank you!
Siagian said at 1:18 a.m. on Oct 7, 2008:
CLYDO, MIKE: btw, talking about wildlife, we did see some birds resembling some sort of crane. it was too far away to shoot... also, throughout the trip, there were intermittent splashes of fish jumping out of the water!

The ever present red! ... I love the perspective on these from the back of the canoe, Always loved shots taken that way. btw, looks like you got one of those 'looks' for not helping with the paddling though. <G>

It LOOKS like mosquito paradise!! ouch! and I'm seasick already!! youve captured the atmosphere brilliantly, sitting at the back of the canoe (what was your excuse for not paddling?? TABBLO???) :))
Siagian said at 10:23 a.m. on Oct 9, 2008:
DAR: that was a look of admiration i thought! LOL!

ANNELIES: my excuse? of course tabblo! haha! isnt that what we ALL use as an excuse?

thanks to the ladies noticing that he wasn't paddling...next time we do this again...definitely no camera on board...cox it's hard to steer and shoot at the same time...so guess who gets the first hit into the trees...the hard working woman trying so hard to paddle...LOL!!! This is the wife in the picture. BTW.
