Soniacal said at 9:22 a.m. on Oct 8, 2008: as mãos que erguem são as mesmas que destroem...e assistimos a vida que passa com uma lente de olhar atônito...
Eduardo.affonso said at 9:28 a.m. on Oct 8, 2008: Grand, beautiful and abandoned church, TEO.
Chiloedream said at 9:49 a.m. on Oct 8, 2008: 2 très belles images : beauté tragique d'un bâtiment qui perd son âme. Vestige d'une foi à la dérive. Bravo mon ami.
Leftofcenter said at 10:42 a.m. on Oct 8, 2008: I assume top & bottom are the same building, which confirms "symbolically" (to me at least) how obscure "things" get here on earth (and lower) while the more you look up up up.....................
Ira said at 11:07 a.m. on Oct 8, 2008: Magnificent photos. The heavens and earth not so far apart how it seem?:)
Eduardo.affonso said at 11:41 a.m. on Oct 8, 2008: Merci, THIERRY. I think this building was not the only one to "perd son âme" in this case.
Yes, ANNELIES, it's top & bottom of the same church. I took photos of the entire building, but used only these two ones to emphasize the contrast of the (almost) preserved top (you'll find some grafittis, if you look closer) and the dirty, abandoned bottom.
IRA: I think earth and heaven (or should we say hell & heaven?) are strongly connected.
Chilla said at 12:21 p.m. on Oct 8, 2008: Extraordinary images of the same building! Man can create something so beautiful and yet also destroy and deface that same beauty. Hard to understand but it happens...............
Robya said at 1:00 p.m. on Oct 8, 2008: I think the building is beautiful. I wish they would paint over the scribble writing. Such a shame some people have so little sense of morality or discresion. Blessings. Robbi
Pkeener said at 1:34 p.m. on Oct 8, 2008: I was shocked to scroll down to the second photo!!! It looks abandoned with the boarded up window, but it's not right to deface any property. Now, back to the photos. The second image is amazing due to the woman walking by. excellent tabblo, edu!
Rita.Mandarino said at 1:44 p.m. on Oct 8, 2008: é Edu...
Eduardo.affonso said at 3:14 p.m. on Oct 8, 2008: CELIA: Things like this make me think we are sort of little Shivas, the hindu god of creation and destruction (may Setu correct me if I'm wrong...).
ROBBIE: It's not a matter of "little sense of morality". It's the total lack of sense of morality.
PAM: These photos were taken in the same day, but the different lighting makes them look even more distant one from another.
Liliana said at 4:05 p.m. on Oct 8, 2008: Otra tristeza... algo habitual y terrible.
Eduardo.affonso said at 4:53 p.m. on Oct 8, 2008: Sim, LILIANA, esta igreja está/estava em restauração.
Candlepower said at 2:45 p.m. on Oct 10, 2008: Not the way to treat a wonderful old church.
AliDar said at 3:00 p.m. on Oct 10, 2008: Not what I was expecting when I at first saw the title, nor when I brought the second shot into view. Crap! - Church of the Most Holy Sacred... apparently not to many anymore, and I pity those who still feel that way; they must feel as persecuted as those who have been persecuted in the name of religion have, and still do. A very provocative Tabblo Eduardo. Excellent use of your photographic skills, and my apologies for not pointing them out; the media is definitely the message here.
Jigs said at 8:26 a.m. on Oct 12, 2008: loved the element of surprise as my eyes transitioned from photo-1 to photo-2... then my mind got that knowing nudge from "on earth as in heaven" ... and the full import of the visuals and the text and the subtext and everything simply floored me! smashing tabblo, edu!
