[frailness]

“...when we finally know we are dying, and all other sentient beings are dying with us, we start to have a burning, almost heartbreaking sense of the fragility and preciousness of each moment and each being, and from this can grow a deep, clear, limitless compassion for all beings.”

It is a pity we cannot appreciate the beauty of life until this final moment in ours. Great images and words.

I think it's a pity we can not appreciate the beauty of death, too. We are so much attached to life that we aren't able to notice that being so brief, so fragile, is exactly what makes it so precious. It's death that gives life its real dimension.

Oh my dear artist......This is really wonderful! I love the different states of "undone"...You treat this subject with delicacy. Beautiful!

Beautiful and profound words captured so well in your pictures.
Wildthing said at 3:24 a.m. on Oct 9, 2008:
It's a little late to learn anything profound if you are actually dying. To survive near-death and change your values is the better way. And, personally, I find nothing beautiful about death. I've lost enough loved ones to form the opinion that expiring is a wholly miserable practise. Death sucks!!

Great tabblo like the quotes
Eduardo.affonso said at 9:07 a.m. on Oct 9, 2008:
I understand what you mean, MIKE, but I do believe it's death that makes life have any sense. Death is part of live, it is its natural consequence, it's our future. Some believe in another life after death - I don't. I believe in life & death being one and only thing, so if I'm not afraid of living I won't be afraid of dying either. There's a fascinating book about this subject, "Death at Intervals", by Nobel Prize winner José Saramago. It's about a world where nobody dies.

Losing loved ones is a miserable experience, I agree. So, let's love our beloved ones a lot while the are still here with us - and let them love us, because "I thought love would last forever / I was wrong" (Auden).

Den you have made a strong point here with your photos! i love the quote by Rinpoche. personally i believe that death is like sleep from which one awakes to something beautiful, so while i don't look forward to it, i do not fear it.

the last moment is too late,
i never got to tell my father&have regreted it all these years,
so now i try to speak my feelings whilst iam alive,
