No Man Is An Island

"All mankind is of one author, and is one volume; when one man dies, one chapter is not torn out of the book, but translated into a better language; and every chapter must be so translated...As therefore the bell that rings to a sermon, calls not upon the preacher only, but upon the congregation to come: so this bell calls us all: but how much more me, who am brought so near the door by this sickness....No man is an island, entire of itself...any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee."  John Donne (1572-1631)

Looks terrific. A place to live in almost splendid isolation. I'd love the islands.

Perfect panoramas! These islands remind to me the people and their loneliness... Sometimes we are far from each other. Remarkable photos.

Un beau ciel, des iles mystérieuses, une mer paisible, un sillage bouillonnant, de quoi faire rêver le capitaine. Bravo et merci Rhonda. Grosses bises. Thierry-chiloedream.

Thank you David~ a different paradise than tropical one but, yes, it is a paradise :^) In this paradise you'd better bring your favorite sweater and hot tea to stay warm! Hi Pam- You and your scooter would have a blast here! I was watching the Captain bring our boat into the dock and he parked it just like a car! The little girl is a tourist and I bravely asked her Grandma if I could take their pic! Exceptionally friendly people on this little chartered tour of the islands - I recommend it for everyone -even the natives :^) Thanks Robbi-it was very fresh and cool air but still a touch of summer so a perfect time~~ Merci mon capitaine Thierry ~ J'aime ces îles mystérieuses ~ un endroit parfait pour circuler à bicyclette en particulier au moment de prendre le Traversier et le choix d'une île pour une journée ... puis de passer au suivant île pour un autre jour ... ~ Fidalgo... Orcas ... Cypress... Lopez... il ya beaucoup de ~~

Is this on the Juan De Fuca Straight as well? It looks very much like the type of scenery I see around the Gulf Islands.
Welshchick said at 4:07 a.m. on Oct 11, 2008:
Yes Dar, it is...there were alot of boundary disputes in the 1800's...everyone wanted these islands and you can see why~ Vancouver BC is about two hours drive from Anacortes. LOTS of facinating history...famous and infamous...as with all places...
