The Proboscis Monkey - Nose Monkey

The Proboscis Monkey or Nose Monkey

is a rather large monkey with big nose and belly

Cool text from bbc.uk.com: "Native Borneans saw the monkey as a caricature of big-nosed Europeans - or, more specifically, Dutch settlers, complete with pot belly and a ruddy nose. They christened it monyet belanda: 'Dutch monkey'. "

These picture we took at the Kinabatangan river, Borneo, 2003

Great! God was with a particular sense of humor when he designed the Prosboscis.

Paula: He was kinda suprised to see us. The whole family (they live in big families) fleed up the trees when we came but the male stayed until they were safe. He sat there just "showing off" for a while.

Spectacular! So cool the way he drinks. And what an odd tail, somehow it doesn't look prehensile -- is it?
