The Beauty And Variations Of Chinese Calligraphy

These beautiful Chinese Calligraphy are mostly written or carved on wooden plaques to indicate the origin of a certain surname,  the origin of the birth-place of the house owner, the name of the temple or deity or even the rank of the Mandarin Official or congratulatory messages to the Official that lived in that mansion.

The first plaque on the right is a birthday greeting from Emperor Guang Shu of the Qing Dynasty in China to a high ranking Mandarin Official in Penang.

There are plaques with quotes from ancient Chinese literatures too.

Very interestingly and beautifully! The surprising world and philosophy. In Europe and in West there is no such respect for the people as in East. The amazing world!

I have always thought Chinese calligraphy was so beautiful... and mystical... It looks quite hard to do... and you surely couldn't write a note to your friend quickly... Thanks for sharing this...

David just stupendous and am in 'awe'. My 16 year old niece has her whole bedroom painted black with the calligraphy like this all the way around in DEEP RED as the upper border! i adore that room and this tabblo too!.....the BEAUTY cannot be adequately described. and the painstaking work of ancient calligraphers that toiled to make these works of art! TY again for yet another lesson of your 'side of the world' David! luv Patty xox

Thank you guys, glad that you all appreciate the beauty of the Chinese calligraphy.

Gerard, even though I understand most of the meaning of the above, but my lack of knowledge in English language forbids me to do a nice translation for you. Thousands apologies !

And Jodi, the Chinese writing is not difficult to learn and we sure could write a note or essay easily. But, to write something as beautiful or as artistic as above, one has to practice for many years.

Anyway, thank you all for the kind comments.
