Tannery Falls

You might drive past this tiny stairway on the side of a busy road in Munising, Michigan if you don't know to look for it, but you'd be missing one of the greatest waterfalls in the Upper Peninsula: Tannery Falls!  As you walk along the canyon walls and avoid the drop down into the valley next to the path, you feel enclosed, cut off from the sun and the rest of the world.  It's a magical place.

Wow, thanks so much, to both of you! It's awesome to know that the things in life I like to shoot the most actually move others. :)

Wow! Very Beautiful! Wondering about the name do you know how it got that name? A Favorite!

Thank you, Pat. Tannery Falls is named for Tannery Creek, and how the creek got its name, I'm not sure. It was privately owned until recently, when it was sold to the Michigan Nature Association, and there has been an attempt to rename it Rudolph M. Olson Memorial Falls, which doesn't seem to stick because it's just too long. Besides that, there is another waterfall nearby called Memorial Falls, which creates confusion. Tannery seems to be the name it will keep. :)
