Passenger's Memories

"I woke up as the sun was reddening; and that was the one distinct time in my life, the strangest moment of all, when I didn't know who I was — I was far away from home, haunted and tired with travel, in a cheap hotel room I'd never seen, hearing the hiss of steam outside, and the creak of the old wood of the hotel, and footsteps upstairs, and all the sad sounds, and I looked at the cracked high ceiling and really didn't know who I was for about fifteen strange seconds." - Jack Kerouac from his novel "On The Road"

All pictures were taken using a cellphone camera (Sony Ericsson K850i) last weekend on my way to my parent's place in the province and back to the jungle city of Metro Manila.

Nice set of B & W, James.......I woke up this morning to a dawn as grey as church roof lead. For a moment I was a stranger to myself. I was still dog-tired, had a force-ten headache, and cursed the booze of the night before. Where was I? I could have been in any cheap motel room in Metro Manila or maybe outside flagstaff, Arizona on route 66. The only sound I could hear was the harsh caw of crows from beyond the steamed-up window. I stared up at the stippled, shadow-infested ceiling, and still didn't KNOW who I really was, beyond my given name. Perhaps I never will.

Lovely photos, James!! I felt just like your quote & Mike's this morning... and I was in my own bed. :'(

The quote and b & w images combine well for that out of body experience.

Had to be in B&W for sure, with the JK. this is really cool, James. love yr self portrait. Grey here, too. i like the skewed pov of the billboards, and the aerials of the traffic. one of my faves:
"Anybody can make Paris holy, but I can make Topeka holy.'" just like you, James, and your tabblos.

Mike, I love how you made the Kerouac more appropriate to the tabblo. Great personal touch! :)

E, you know Megamall! Haha! I'm not sure if SukoThai is still there. I think that part is being renovated at this point. Haha! I'm actually going to Megamall in a while. :)

Pam, I feel flattered with the Topeka analogy. :) Thank you!
