Sraines902 said at 2:47 a.m. on Oct 24, 2008: Interesting stuff! Is that Allen Greenspan lunching under the Miller Liter sign?
Sraines902 said at 2:49 a.m. on Oct 24, 2008: And there's some heart-rending loneliness, too. My, oh my.
Wildthing said at 3:22 a.m. on Oct 24, 2008: Terrific mix of pix. The manikins into bondage:) the coffee drinkers people-watching (Guy 5th on right looks like Henry Silva). Fave pic: The old lady. I take it the cup is for money, and yet if the shot had been in Central Park I could imagine her feeding the pigeons. There's more than meets the eye in this tab. Nice one, Pam.
Dan22man said at 3:40 a.m. on Oct 24, 2008: GOOD TABBLO, SOME PICTURES ARE VERY SAD THOUGH. THIS IS NOT WHAT I LIKE IN NY...
Chilla said at 4:32 a.m. on Oct 24, 2008: Both interesting and shocking images of New York. It is great you have the courage to report the darker side of the streets. Thanks Pam.
OscarDaniel said at 6:04 a.m. on Oct 24, 2008: Great tabblo Pa!! as ever! Great and interesting images.
Leftofcenter said at 7:42 a.m. on Oct 24, 2008: if this isn't STREET PHOTOGRAPHY then wot is!!! R A D- you caught THEM being themselves, for us, the viewers , it's like being there. The shot in the mirror!! (we can't resist I know!) the mannequins and the wooden letterpress rack!!!! have one, empty, love those shots! love this tab.
Sirnicolay said at 7:56 a.m. on Oct 24, 2008: These are amazing, Pam! I love the shot of the guys in red beside the trash cans. Excellent street photography! :)
Memotions said at 7:58 a.m. on Oct 24, 2008: I was in NYC when I was 10 but don't remember anything about it but a wild taxicab ride and being on a ferry. Now I feel as if I've really seen this part of the city through your photos. The ones of the old people really tell a story of struggle. I can feel the sense of loss and hopelessness. Thanks Pam Provocative Tabblo......AGAIN. "Just another day in Paradise"
Charlespop said at 8:07 a.m. on Oct 24, 2008: Love the style !
William44 said at 8:48 a.m. on Oct 24, 2008: Excellent tabblo.... great job.
PhotoPop said at 9:02 a.m. on Oct 24, 2008: What's so bad about peace, love and PK. Seems to follow you everywhere. The people in the coffee shop think so. I can hear the horns blaring on electric avenue, the mannequins have to restrained and the poor need hear the quarters make noise like a tambourine. Excellent set.
Tunderke said at 9:14 a.m. on Oct 24, 2008: Love city life but sometimes can be a hard monoton life. Looks everyday life in paradise. Great pictures. Maybe we should post all over the country baggers pix. see what is the different. It would be intresting. I think Europe wouls win. Kiss
Ira said at 9:39 a.m. on Oct 24, 2008: I like to see city in all paints both colours. The houses and people are very interestingly. Perfect photos! City such different! You have shown it from different directions. I very much very much like yours tabblo

Pkeener said at 10:53 a.m. on Oct 24, 2008: hey guys! TGIF!!
Thank you for all the great comments and your continured interest in my NYC series. I am having a lot of fun editing and making these tabblos. NYC is a photographer's dream. I mean, how can you not take a cool photo there? I appreciate your induging me my "take" on a city that never sleeps, never gives up, never fails to fascinate, and always entertains.
I loved this outing. from Chelsea to Hell's kitchen. it isnt the glam side of Manhattan. its the stuff we all know is there, but sometimes dismiss. the trash, the poor, the flea markets, the not so cool looking skyscrapers, full of small dingy markets and peole trying to get from point A to B, a hustle here, a beggar there. Stuff you find in every city.
John98 said at 11:06 a.m. on Oct 24, 2008: Nice mix, Pam. I worked in lower Manhattan for 33 yrs and after retiring volunteered at a program for schizophrenic and other mentally ill adults in Hell's Kitchen for 4 yrs. A lot of the homeless beggars that you see on the streets and in the subways are actually emotionally ill people who have been de-institutionalized from formal programs or have refused services. The shots you got of midtown absolutely capture the energy of the city. Next time you are in town I suggest you visit the privileged areas of Central Park West, Park Ave, Sutton Place, etc and capture the wealthy counterpoint.
JuDeck said at 11:11 a.m. on Oct 24, 2008: "...if it smells like the street..." and these have all the essence of the NYC street scenes...traffic and people jams and society keeps moving along....great shots Keeners....let's hit the streets!
Pkeener said at 11:17 a.m. on Oct 24, 2008: John, as a matter of fact, i saw several people ranting to themselves, talking to "people" that werent there. it was like all the things your hear about and see in the movies. not so funny when you witness it, and realize the pain they are in.
I hope to go back some day. I did manage to get to some other areas, but never made it to the real priviledged area you mentioned.
Pkeener said at 11:36 a.m. on Oct 24, 2008: Hey Jude! Love to hit the streets with you!
Lifequest22 said at 11:37 a.m. on Oct 24, 2008: This Tabblo is chock full of images that capture the essessence of Manhattan. KILLER street photography Pam. The shot of the people in the restaurant window brings back memories. Great framing in these--especially the one with the sanitation guys. Love the wood print blocks. And the shots of the two elderly people are beautifully capture. This is a fantastic series. Keep them coming.
Pkeener said at 11:52 a.m. on Oct 24, 2008: First we take Manhattan....
Wopmusic said at 11:52 a.m. on Oct 24, 2008: ok- i love the crate photo, and i am drawn to the manikins, this group could be a series by itself. the masterpiece here is the restaurant with the starring diners, looking out on the 'show' real gritty life outside this insulated cocoon. this one is scary in it's implication for society. do you crop any of your photos? to me their are several that contain wonderful images in part of the frame. i'm thinking of the Asian girl and the guy with the big nose, also love the sidewalk cement shot and the way you 'signed' with the letters and your image in with the manikins!
Chaitiamma said at 12:02 p.m. on Oct 24, 2008: The old lady reminds me of John Grisham's 'The Street Lawyer'. Would like to visit New York one day. Thanks for sharing these excellent photos.
Appropos said at 12:28 p.m. on Oct 24, 2008: wonderful street level view of that city

Gerardfotografeert said at 5:41 p.m. on Oct 24, 2008: Wow, Pamela what a beautiful tabblo. I think that you've captured the diversity and the contrast of NY very well and I love the individual character ( the little PK's) in the shots. Real streetart, a absolute fav. too me.
Bxrgirl27 said at 6:19 p.m. on Oct 24, 2008: Nice collection of images. I love the peace blocks - did you do that???
Pkeener said at 6:38 p.m. on Oct 24, 2008: LAura, i did! I was messing around and trying to spell out some names for gifts, and i did that and took pics, thinking of my tabblo buddies.
Franko, i had some similar ideas, but decided to make it one tabblo of the entire walk about Hell's Kitchen. I do crop at times, but most of these images are composed in the camera. shot a wide angle to give the "city" feel.
As I have said before, and truly feel, all of your comments only enhance the tabblo and give me so much to think about!
Andre. said at 8:02 p.m. on Oct 24, 2008: I love NY and I love to see it your lens. Cool POV

Abking said at 11:59 p.m. on Oct 24, 2008: What an interesting set, Pam! The Manufactures Trust Bldg, the guys in vivid red by the garbage cans, the visual information spilling over everywhere, it's really going on here. I encountered an old woman, dressed in old-country style and looking like someone's long lost gramma like the one you photographed, in SF. She didn't ask for spare change, she asked for rice, which was all the more heartbreaking.
AliDar said at 12:52 a.m. on Oct 25, 2008: I just enjoy seeing what you see and knowing if I look hard enough I'll know what caught your eye. Great work Pam; I'm enjoying your New York series.

Eduardo.affonso said at 1:47 p.m. on Oct 25, 2008: Wish I could have photos like #33, #34 and #35 hanging on my walls.
Pkeener said at 1:55 p.m. on Oct 25, 2008: :0 thank you, edu. and Wayne, what an architect's dream place. Densie, the flea market was wonderful. wish i had taken more photos, but i was too busy shopping! not yet, dollie. Allan, that one of the street crew was such a pop! i couldnt believe it, waited for the people to walk out of it and prayed they would stay put! The woman with the cup could have been a single tabblo, but i felt so rude taking advantage of her. that fine line between invasion and Gorilla Photography. Angela, i cannever resist a mirror with my camera.
lgodshall@***.com said at 10:10 p.m. on Oct 25, 2008: Pam, the picture with the "printer's letter blocks" belongs in a gallery! Laurie

Thank you Karsten, Rhonda, E. So funny, this little trifle was the biggest hit of all the photos.
Hi M. lonliness is everywhere, but it's right in your face when you walk the city strrets. even on a bright sunny day in Autumn.
