The best way to occupy the children for a few hours is to engage them in watercolor painting.  Today we started with free drawing and ended with leaf-printing.

We began by putting old newspaper down to protect the floor, then came to an agreement on which three colors to use--we tried more colors before but the children spent all the time switching and mixing the colors till there's no distinct color left.  Of course, there was a minor war on who would use which brush, just enough to riled up Mama Aor a bit. Once we had the white drawing paper, water reserve, and some tissue paper, we were ready to begin.

Titus still drew creatures from Khao Yai National Park even though it had been one month since we went there.  He would pencil-sketch deers, woodpeckers, monkeys in the trees, millipedes, leeches, and Tatia standing next to him (with his trademark sword in his hand.)  Tatia, following Titus' lead, also drew deers.  Titus carefully painted his sketch very deliberately while Tatia had a lot of fun with switching colors all over her paper.  Aor thinks Tatia might do some experimental art in the future, though her daddy thinks she might be a sniper (due to her stealth and silence.)

After the painting, the kids proceeded to do leaf-printing.  Titus had done this many time before so his prints show plenty of leaf patterns.  He also taught Tatia to carefully paint the leaves and carefully place the leaves on the paper, but Tatia seemed to paint more on her hand than on the leaves.  When her leaves didn't have enough paint, Tatia would just use the brush to paint directly on paper, obliterating any semblance to leaf patterns.

ไม่มีกิจกรรมอะไรที่จะทำให้เด็กๆยุ่งอยู่ได้เป็นชั่วโมงเหมือนกับการเล่นสีน้ำ เป้าหมายของเราวันนี้คือการวาดรูปอิสระ แล้วตบท้ายด้วยการพิมพ์ภาพใบไม้  เริ่มต้นด้วยการเตรียมสถานที่ด้วยการปูหนังสือพิมพ์ให้ทั่ว เถียงกันว่าจะผสมสีอะไรเพราะแม่ให้ใช้ได้เพียง 3 สีในวันนี้ (เคยยอมให้ใช้หลายๆสี แต่สุดท้ายเด็กๆเลยหมกมุ่นอยู่กับการจุ่มสี เปลี่ยนสีพู่กัน จนกระทั่งทุกสีในจานสีเป็นสีเละเหมือนกันหมด) แย่งพู่กันพอให้สนุกแต่ไม่ให้แม่โมโหมาก วางกระดาษสีขาวไว้ตรงหน้า เตรียมน้ำ และกระดาษทิชชูสำหรับล้างพู่กัน แล้วเราก็เริ่มละเลงได้

ถึงแม้จะกลับมาจากเขาใหญ่ได้หนึ่งเดือนแล้ว แต่ธีธัชก็ยังชอบวาดภาพเขาใหญ่อยู่ ธีธัชใช้ดินสอร่างภาพในกระดาษก่อนเป็นรูปกวาง นกหัวขวาน ลิงเกาะอยู่บนต้นไม้ กิ้งกือ ทาก และรูปธัชธีญายืนคู่กับธีธัช โดยไม่ลืมวาดดาบในมือธีธัชซึ่งเป็นสัญลักษณ์ประจำตัวไปแล้ว ส่วนธัชธีญาเลือกวาดรูปกวางเลียนแบบพี่ชาย พอวาดด้วยดินสอเสร็จก็ถึงเวลาลงสี ธัชธีญาสนุกกับการเปลี่ยนสีไปมา ละเลงทั่วกระดาษ เธอทำอย่างรวดเร็ว อืม..ดูแววแล้ว โตขึ้นลูกสาวเราอาจจะมีแววทางด้านนี้(ถึงแม้พ่อโก้หวังอยู่ลึกๆว่าอยากให้เป็น Sniper) ส่วนธีธัชก็ลงสีอย่างรอบคอบ และตั้งใจ

หลังจากวาดรูปเสร็จก็ถึงเวลาเละเทะได้ เย้ เย้..พิมพ์ภาพใบไม้  ผลงานธีธัชจะเรียบร้อยสมกับเป็นพี่ใหญ่ที่เคยเล่นพิมพ์ใบไม้มามากแล้วจากที่โรงเรียน ระหว่างทำก็ไม่ลืมสอนน้องด้วยว่า ให้ค่อยๆเอาสีทาบนใบไม้ แล้วแปะลงบนกระดาษเบาๆ ธีญาก็พยายามทาสีให้ติดใบไม้ตามที่พี่สอน แต่ทำไปทำมาสีติดบนมือธัชธีญามากกว่าบนใบไม้ซะอีก   แ้ล้วพอแปะใบไม้ลงกระดาษแล้วสีติดบนกระดาษน้อยไป เธอก็จะแก้ปัญหาด้วยการใช้พู่กันละเลงบนกระดาษเลย ดังนั้นไม่ต้องแปลกใจถ้าไม่ค่อยเห็นรอยใบไม้ในผลงานภาพพิมพ์ใบไม้ของเธอ
