The New House

So...Liesel and I bought a new house earlier this year. A great 150 yr. old seaside colonial that was the first house on the spit of land that we live on. It was built by an Irish fisherman that just happened to be on the beach in 1853 when a schooner crashed during a gale with 2 tons of silver. The foundation was actually built with timbers from the ship.

Let's just say there were some projects. and did I mention...

1. It's haunted, but by a good Irish fairy ghost (yup)

2. It served as the place for Irish mass for 30 yrs - I'm a recovering catholic (ouch)

3. We had 6 inches of water in the basement this week.

So the kitchen needed a little "fine-tuning". And I started 7 weeks of painting before we moved in. (this is the good view)

THE WALLS CAME DOWN...and the floor...and the ceiling....and the plumbing....and all of the tube and knob electric...our builder was the best!

It took a long time to get to this point....

We're at the end of week 11....and we LOVE it!

And the kids love being a minute away from the beach........and so do we.

Yeah...digging for treasure.

Okay...I'm Irish and a sucker for wee Irish tales ;-) I love how you wrote this up...sounds like a cozy little family haven away from the crazy world....a place where laughter rings in the walls...or will when they are up! lol

I would luuuuuvvvv to have a place where Mass was celebrated for 30 years!! Lucky dog. Now try to find a priest to do that!! :-P A blessed hallowed place for a lovely family. God bless.
