Asheville!! what a great potpourri of wonderful shots. Can't help but smile at the title as it reminds me of the Peter Sellars movie. Chance was his name? ANyway, what a great concept of living a life you photograph. Catching things by Chance, and also deliberately, like your composition of this tabblo, and the juxtapostion of #10 and #11. Who is the lovely lady in the portrait? and that camera: KILLER!. Love this, Linda.

Great pics Linda ! ! I love the old camera.

"This is just like television, only you can see much further" (he's in the cab)

I very much like such unexpected shots. Both street. And art galleries. You catch something interesting. And from this the impression about you is created. It is your sight on the world. It very interesting. To see something unusual in usual things and to show it to other people - large work and creativity. I very much like autumn sheets and game of shadows on a wall. A beautiful ancient portrait. And I like signboards. And ancient camera. I like all photos. In everyone there is your particle. Remarkable travels and perfect opportunity to see the world for me!
Lifequest22 said at 2:31 p.m. on Nov 13, 2008:
Thanks Doreen and Akeke.
Pam and Annelies. Thank you. Pam--Don't know who the woman in the portrait is. It was hanging in the Pub. Annelies--no, unfortunately I didn't get to see them.

Did you know that part of the movie "Being There" was filmed in Asheville at the Biltmore Estate.?
Leftofcenter said at 2:43 p.m. on Nov 13, 2008:
no I didn't. so then the title isn't a coincidence?? is that a blue INDIAN? (Gallery Minerva) love that blue.
"That was a very small room" (being wheeled out of the elevator)
Bravemoonbearer said at 2:48 p.m. on Nov 13, 2008:
Peter Sellers would be proud.Love the old camera and the cupcake in the window. You really captured some interesting images.
Lifequest22 said at 3:10 p.m. on Nov 13, 2008:
Hey Sandy--thanks for being there.

Leftie--no the title isn't a coincidence--I think the title offers various interpretations. I like what Pam said about catching things by "Chance." And yes-you can see further than televison.

IRA--Thank you so much for your comment. Asheville is one of my favorite city's to visit and I'm so pleased you are enjoying it so much too.
Pkeener said at 5:01 p.m. on Nov 13, 2008:
also like the open gate to the church and the way you framed the people chatting on the sidewalk...
Karsten said at 5:01 p.m. on Nov 13, 2008:
Hey Linda! What a great tabblo - it looks like a peaceful, creative and "having-a-good-time" place! Never heard about asheville - looks like a place one should visit one day ;-) Thanks for these interesting every-day-beauty-shots!
Snooway said at 5:16 p.m. on Nov 13, 2008:
thanks for the tour, love all the signs, especially the cupcake corner one:)
Mirella said at 5:36 p.m. on Nov 13, 2008:
Beautiful indeed, I think Asheville is not a big town, easy to live in. Very very interesting Tabblo. Ciao
Lifequest22 said at 5:46 p.m. on Nov 13, 2008:
Thanks Karstan, Sue and Mirella--Ashville is a small college town in the mountains. Lots of artists live in the area. But it has grown over the years and has a good sized medical community. It is also the home of the Builtmore Estate.

Pam--I thought that open gate was just waitiing for me and my camera.

Soft and easy on the eye set, Linda. Semi-urban melancholy. Would have enjoyed Plant & Krauss
for T Bone burnett. Have you seen him on the Orbison 'Black & White Night' DVD....Terrific.

Thanks for you comment Mike and for the link. I have the DVD which is one of my faves. How could it not be--it's heaven.
AliDar said at 6:52 p.m. on Nov 13, 2008:
Just saw a comment of yours on Mike's Tabblo saying it was a feel good tab, but this is no less. Life is a state of mind. "Getting there is half the fun; being there is all of it." - The cupcake at the base of the plant made me smile. - If the woman in the old photo is Hannah Flanagan, then you must have some Irish blood in you, because I can see a resemblance. - I love the iron work and it's shadow against the pebbled wall, and how you placed the two photos of it. But I keep coming back to the sixth shot, simply because I enjoy the composition of lines and angles. Thank you for sharing your being there! :)
