If walls could talk

Tunnel vision

all images, except for this one, taken with my Panasonic Lumix FZ50

Last month visiting my friend in Virgina, I went with her to the art school where she studies painting....

I wandered around this old building and was curious of it's history, and of the people who existed inside these walls, many now cracked and peeling and somewhat in a state of disrepair

Drafty hallways, old stairwells, old doors and windows...fertile ground for my active imagination, some rooms looked almost forboding

I began to see not only windows and walls, but wonderful forms, shapes, shadows and textures to capture with my camera   :)

Fear knocked at the door.

 Faith answered.

And lo, no one was there.

~Author Unknown

Reflections of the world

Cold stark confusion

MOO! Reminds me of a cow

Pretty beams of light

Nightmares !

Heart of Darkness

colorful world

Old door

The end~ or beginning?

No one knows where I have been

I’m a story waiting for someone to tell

No one knows what I have seen

A glimpse of heaven and even a part of hell

These photos, each of which could stand alone, are truly brilliant, Deb. I love the way you have put them together in the tabblo format, the prose that you have added, the layout you have chosen and last but not least, the inclusion of your little flower photo, one of the first taken with the new Nikon. This is a fav for me.

You've turned the Visual Arts Center into visual art, Deb. Wonderful lighting & texture. Walking through such buildings makes me wonder what laughter and tears have been absorbed by thre very fabric of them. Ghosts of yesteryear.

Fantastic photos, b/w and colour. How many things we can see looking around with the heart and with a photographer's fantasy and skill. I like them a lot, the Visual Art Center deserves them. (I dont' know if have been able to say in English what I feel) Queste foto mi emozionano!!! Sono un regalo di Natale. Ciao
Fabio_DL said at 8:30 a.m. on Dec 23, 2008:
Deb, I completely share Mirella's feelings! And I borrow her words, which are so precise: "Queste foto mi emozionano!!! Sono un regalo di Natale." (My poor translation: These pictures give me strong emotions. They are a Christmas gift) I was waiting for these pictures, and the wait was worth! Thanks much! Fabio PS: To our Tabblo friends, more information on the arts center can be found at http://visarts.org/

Really very intersting!
L810th said at 7:50 p.m. on Dec 26, 2008:
#5 and #8 stand out on their own for me, but Heart of Darkness is the scary one with its morgue like atmospheric lighting that reveals nothing and yet leaves your imagination to run riot. A contrast of soft slatted beams cut off with scalpel edged verticals that hide the inner pathways to an abyss.
#5 has also that contrasting factor that makes it work so well. Directional daylight which gives awesome form to the contrasting shapes and colors of cyan and orange with #8 placing you within a prison cell, not wanting to cross over into the darkness for fear of the unknown. This is not an art school but a virtual tour of Alcatraz where the only room left in tact is the operation theatre and head warden's office. You have a great imagination Deb and your stories are up there with SK. A great Tabblo simply ooozing with food for thought. Your work is so imaginative yet it its subjects are simple and at hand and that is more of a challenge to the photographer than picture postcards. Mike.
PS TOD for sure. Well done DEb!
Debdog said at 9:15 p.m. on Dec 26, 2008:
Mike your comments are much appreciated! I feel like i am in a virtual classroom, and critique (done properly)makes me want to dig deeper, put something special into my images...try harder, be better....before I click the shutter, i hear my teacher saying "is that ALL>>>??" and try not to be hasty, and let the object of whatever, reveal itself to me(as i see it ) ;) THANKS....for the kind encouragement!
Debdog said at 9:50 p.m. on Dec 26, 2008:
