Shea Goodbye

“TADIUM”

Shea Goodbye*

*Sorry, I couldn’t resist the overused play on words.

During my recent trip to New York, I stopped by Shea Stadium to see the progress of its demolition. Citi Field opens with an exhibition game against the Red Sox on April 3. The entire old stadium will soon be leveled to make way for a parking lot.

Nothing lasts forever or stays the same. Nice pictorial record of times-a-changing, Saul.

I'm glad you got those pictures at that game we were at. Good shots.

There's something very sad about a building being demolished. Even though I'm not a big baseball fan, I did see a couple of games here. I even got to run around the warning track as part of the Met's Run to Home Plate 5k race. Shea wasn't a particularly beautiful stadium, but after all these years it's got a personality that "CitiField" lacks.

It is so sad, but happy at the same time to see! I haven't been to Shea since before I moved to Boston in 2000.

It's quite sad to see this..especially after seeing that it really looks like a good building..

Nice Tabblo Saul. I wonder if any of the same equipment used to take down Ebbits Field and The Polo Grounds was used here. For those who don't know the same wrecking ball that knocked down Ebbits also demolished the Polo Grounds.
