Needful Things?

I hope you enjoyed looking round this old curiosity shop.

Nostalgia's probably  just remembering things better than they actually were.

"If It seems like I've been lost in 'let's remember'.  If it seems I'm getting older and missing my younger days, well you shoulda known me much better, 'cause the past is something that never got in my way."

                           ~ Billy Joel

Why don't you step out of the sun and linger a while.

There's a few things inside that may make you smile.

That's it, over the threshold, through the door, and browse the shelves of this magical store.

There are Indian chiefs and mermaids here, old signs for Coke and tobacco and beer.

Take your time, no rush for sure. Enjoy the sights, each one a lure.

I think the Quaker State therometer is broke.

My birthday is April 22nd, and you don't have to worry about my gift: one of the mermaids and/or the dog with the gramophone would be just perfect! Thanks you in advance!

(Would you mind to include the deer with pink glasses, the "king of beverages" placard, one of the sailor dwarves, the giant colorful cons, the giraffe and some flamingoes? Thank you again!).

Last but not least, your poem is terrific. May I have an autographed copy, with all the items above?
Bravemoonbearer said at 9:30 a.m. on Jan 19, 2009:
I could spend hours in this store and probably spend lots of money. You really captured many interesting items and brought back many nice memories. So how many things tempted you? Thats the coolest deer I have ever seen. Thanks, Mike.
Wildthing said at 9:50 a.m. on Jan 19, 2009:
Glad you're all enjoying browsing.

Sandy: This store is on Periwinkle way, so there's no reason why you shouldn't call in come December. Bring big bucks, it ain't cheap:)

Bob: I really like the HMV dog & gramaphone. It was taken from a painting by an English artist, and the dog's name is Nipper, as you probably know.

Eduardo: I'll see if I can catch a mermaid for you. They're pretty elusive & slippy individuals:)

Gazelle, Charles: Thanks for your comments.

Hi, Deb. Glad this is invoking memories of bygone days. The bottle pic is my favorite.

Yes, pretty elusive & slippy... But no surprise here: they are females, aren't they? :-P

Fun Tabblo Mike. I could spend hours in stores like this one, looking for the things that remind me of when I was a kid. Nice hat too.

What a Fun Store - Thanks for letting me enjoy it!
Wildthing said at 11:26 a.m. on Jan 19, 2009:
We spent quite a while in here. The boarded floor creaked under our feet, and there was the smell of old wood & paper, and the sense of being back in a more friendly, peaceful time, when a handshake clinched a deal, and values meant something to more people than they seem to today.
CANDYCANE said at 11:38 a.m. on Jan 19, 2009:

I very much like such small and amusing shops. Absolutely useless things. And very lovely. Ancient. Warm. They are created only for fun and pleasure. Thanks for excursion:)

Jodi: The more the merrier for a camera-fest on Sanibel. We'll be arriving on 11/ 28.

For those of you that have tasted the excitement of finding WALLY or WALDO, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Where%27s_Wally%3F within this Tabblo lies a great challenge for those who like seek out the almost invisible. In almost all of these images you can find a price label/or tag. Can you find them all thought? I was pleasantly surprised to find just how many remained hidden. These images are a treasure trove of challenges if you let your imagination free and want to step back to those mornings with your kids next to you in bed searching out WALLY's hidden locations. Taking this Tabblo to a further stage and creating a HIDE & SEEK group could be an extention of the idea. I leave you to ponder the thought. Thanks Mike for getting me counting again, but my interest lies in those fine prints of the girl with the bonnet and I hope there is a set. Mike

didn't know if you drew the title from the song or the novel, but now I see it is the novel. Great shots of the kind of place I would love to capture and hang out in. Love his Master's Voice..
Wildthing said at 2:15 p.m. on Jan 20, 2009:
Yes, Pam. When I walked through the door and into the gloom, King's story sprang to mind. I've added a pic of the cover. I remember the demonic storekeeper, Leland gaunt, seeing how much folk would pay for their secret dreams & desires. Gaunt knew that almost everything is for sale: love, hope, and even the human soul:)
