Magnificent landscape. I have never been to Crete because everyone, who has been there only talked about the heat. Seems it is well worth a visit in winter time. Do they have sufficient heating in the buildings? I had some bad experience in Spanish hostels / hotels.

Terrific shots, Celia. I didn't realize that Crete had a snow-covered mountain range.

Thank you Moorlerche, the best time to visit Crete is probably in the spring when the wild flowers are tuly spectacular! Mikalis and Ira, thank you. Edwardo, thank you for your comment, number 5 was taken well above the snow line and the silence was truly amazing. Thank you Den, this is a view I have taken both in summer and winter and a favourite of mine. Thanks Mike and Debbie, the snow arrives in December and finally disappears in May, it is at its best in January and February , it also provides our water for the year!

I had to go to Google Earth to confirm what I was seeing here in Crete. I never imagined that snow could travel this far south in the Med' and especially to one of the hottest spots for summer vacations. What is the height of these mountains? Such a diverse climate, and yes springtime must be quite beautiful at these middle heights. #7 is a fine composition and a favourite. Great insight to an islands beauty off-season. Mike.
