Christmas in Poland and Prague

Old town, Central Square, Krakow Poland. That is St Marys church in the center. (HDR)

St Marys Church, Krakow Poland. (HDR)

Carriage in the Old town Square, Krakow

I caught this woman walking through the central Square in the early morning on December 24th, 2008.

Barbican Gate, Krakow Poland.

Light rays off the St Marys Church....

Prague, Czech Republic. Hazy start of the day. It was about - 15 Deg Centigrade and the coal fires were burning!

This year, I was blessed to visit Poland and the Czech Republic for Christmas and New Years.  These images were taken between December 23rd and January 5th.

I used HDR processing on some of them in order to get all the available details in the scene.

Poland is such a wondeful country...  and to me, Prague is the most beautiful city in Europe (I've been to almost all of the big ones!).  I am still in awe of the places I was able to see and experience.  Enjoy!

Inside one of the many beautiful churches in Poland.

I got up very early to get out and capture the city streets before all the cars and people filled them...

Inside the Jasna Gora Monastery in Czestochowa Poland

Just a different POV of Prauge.

This is an HDR image inside St. Vitus Cathedral, Czech Republic.

If you look closely, you can see a few ice skaters on a massive frozen lake in southern Poland.

Inside the grounds of the Wawel Castle - Krakow Royal Palace

I loved the look of the buildings in this part of Europe. (HDR)

Some of the details inside another church.

A wide angle view of the Wawel Castle, Krakow Poland.

A nighttime image of the Charles Bridge in Prague.

I love this one... it is an HDR image taken during the late afternoon near the Charles Bridge. Those are real sunrays!

I don't know how you take such photos, but there must be some kind of magic (or miracle) involved. And a lot of talent, obviously. Simply great!

Spectacular shots! You and I will get along well with HDR. Time consuming to process but absolutely worth it and a piece of art. Keep on doiing what you are good at.

Breathtaking! Awe inspiring buildings captured so beautifully. The hazy day shot looks more like a painting - definately should hang proudly on someone's wall!

Great atmospheric lighting with dramatic skies. A perfect time of the year to visit these great cities. Well deserved TOD for all your work. Mike.
Pkeener said at 11:14 a.m. on Jan 20, 2009:
ahhh Kelly. You did it again. I am completely blown away. May I ask what wide angle lens you are using? the "distortion" is perfect. These are all so beautifully executed. You really nailed it on this tabblo. placing the B&w imagine (#4) where you did in the tabblo really makes an impact. Your photos are always top notch, but I really enjoy how you use the tabblo format to work your magic.
Candlepower said at 11:16 a.m. on Jan 20, 2009:
Beautiful look like old hand painted postcards! Love this A Favorite! Congratulations on TOD!

Just Beautiful!!!, now I understand why people like to take pictures with wide angle lens. Amazing, great work with HDR. I ´ve been in Kracow, but my photos are not like yours!
Lifequest22 said at 11:44 a.m. on Jan 20, 2009:
Kelly--congrats on a fantastic Tabblo. Your HDR are right on--really gives a great range-especially in the sky. The trees with the skaters in the background is stunning. Beautiful work.

Moorlerche said at 1:33 p.m. on Jan 20, 2009:
Great photos, but the woman on Christmas morning is truly outstanding. As you love Prague that much have you tried Vilnius and Stockholm? They are worthy competitors.
Abking said at 1:35 p.m. on Jan 20, 2009:
Brilliant work. Your use of HDR makes the spirit of those old bricks speak. You've got a good eye for the significant shot. I appreciate the work you did sifting through 3700+ images.
Rdneg10 said at 2:26 p.m. on Jan 20, 2009:
Abking, I am not even CLOSE to being done sifting through the images! These are the only ones I have really completed now.
Moorlerche: I have been to Stockholm almost every other city in Europe (Lived there for over 12 years) and definitely want to visit Vilnius but for me, Prague is without question, the most beautiful and pristine city in Europe!

You demonstrate true artistry with your photography.

And no, if I were there, at the same time, I would most definitely not have captured/shot/accomplished what you did. You make your luck.
Saulblum said at 10:05 p.m. on Jan 20, 2009:
I love the fifth from last. How many exposures went into this one? Were the birds in all the exposures? Very nice use of HDR. So much HDR seems so horribly fake but these look good. Congrats!
Rdneg10 said at 10:17 p.m. on Jan 20, 2009:
Saulblum, it consists of 5 different images separated at 1 EV +/-. The birds were in all the shots but only those that really were captured well survived. I use Photomatix Pro as a post processing for HDR and use the Details enhancer for the tone mapping.
