The 2009 MAPP Celebrates - MUSIC!

Memries,

Like the corners of my mind

Misty water-colored memories

Of the way we were

Scattered pictures,

Of the smiles we left behind

Smiles we gave to one another

For the way we were .......

MAPP Through the Years ...

MAPP Goes On Safari ...

On January 24, 2009, eleven talented females of ages spanning seven decades gathered to share their wit and wisdom at the 27th Miss America Pageant PARTY!!!!!

Music was the theme and without exception everyone came dressed to impress.

Cousins Connie and Sarah channeled their inner Material Girls and vogued their way through the evening as Madonna, circa 1986.

This was sooo appropriate for Sarah as she and "Madge" share a birthday!

Lisa rocked out as Axl Rose from Guns N' Roses.  ROCK ON, LISA!

Musically scarved, Nancy was the [wo]Man in Black, ready to review any goings on that evening.

Olivia played the part of Olivia Newton-John, specifically as she looked at the end of "Grease."

This mother and daughters trio covered several important musical eras with their garb.  Madison, attending her very first MAPP, was Ringo Star. Chris made a glimpse of stocking something shocking as a 20's Flapper.  And Morgan was the winner of the Dolly Parton Get Up Award for her portrayal of David Bowie portraying Ziggy Stardust.

Classically classy Carol appeared as violinist Paganini, complete with a violin in a wooden case AND hair extensions!

With rhinestones adorning her pink western style jacket, Kim represented the best of country music.

Laura was all about peace and love, man, as she brought back the 60's, peasant skirt style.

Once the paparazzi were sent away with their cameras and those in attendance has finished exclaiming over each other's fab ensembles, the pre-pageant activities began.

First on the agenda was the Kathi Lee Gifford Name That Tune Contest.  Split into teams of 3 or 4, the local judges listened to snippets of songs and named the artists singing them.  Competition and strategizing were intense - SO intense that the party organizer did not realize that a tie had occured until prizes were about to be awarded.  Therefore a sudden death name that artist-off had to be held.  The winners were the Couch Team of Lisa, Chris and Madison.

Matt, official MAPP AV Tech Specialist.

Next up was the Beverly Sills Music Trivia Contest.  Ten questions related to the music biz were presented to the attendees.  Sarah was victorious with Carol, Olivia and Chris in a three way tie for 2nd place.

Finally, in the spirit of the theme, all those present participated in some group karaoke as we wailed along to "These Boots Were Made For Walking," "Downtown" and "I Never Promised You A Rose Garden."

Then, with just moments to spare, all dashed to the refreshment table to fortify themselves with the pink food and drinks arranged over vintage album covers.  And Julie joined us live from Marietta via Skype!

With plates loaded the MAPP judges rushed back into the viewing area, grabbing pencils and score sheets, just in time to view the pageant and offer constructive criticism and feedback to the contestants.

Thanks for coming, and see you next year!
