It was nearly 20º outside, which is way up from most of the temps of late, so I was able to leave my home for the first time in a while and decided to stomp around the Lake Michigan shore |

How can it feel like a heat wave and look like that? |

The rocks in the harbor have furry white boots |

Slippery! |

Kenosha Chamber of Commerce is welcome to make me an offer for this one; not that they don't have 200 of the same |

Slow traffic day on the footpath and in the harbor. C'mon people! It's practically tropical now! |

Snow atop the ice encased breaker wall, looking a lot like a Lake Michigan iceberg |

Standing on this ice made me realize I'm an idiot, and before I could slide right into the lake, I got back into my car in the lot |

While taking pictures of this ice, I accidentally realized that the black dots in the half-frozen water were ducks |

A new duck to my eyes: the lesser scaup |

Another first for me: a male and female hooded merganser |

It took a while to figure out what this duck is, but it turns out she is a bufflehead, which I'm familiar with, but evidently I've only ever seen the males, and the female has a much smaler spot on her head and less contrasting colors on her body, so, I guess she was new to me too! |

Oh, definitely a heat wave. Look at how little ice is out there. Spring is on the way! |
