Pure As the Driven Snow

What a silly thing to say. This snow's been driven to the lakeshore and it looks anything but pure.

No wonder Lake Michigan is so murky. This meltoff will join the lake and add to the sludge.

I recognize sand, pebbles and rocks, but I don't know what the rest of the colors are. There were clothes protruding from the snow in some areas and other debris that could've been anything.

Isn't that a delicate blanket of white? Winter is so pretty in the urban upper Midwest.

Mmm, dirty icicles.

These mountains of snow were between 10 and 15 feet high in shades of filth.

Winter wonderland.

Prefer nice white snow for a winter wonderland. Hope no one was in the clothes you spotted:)

Hmm, I know it looks awfully ugly in reality, but on your photos and with the chosen background I find the diversity of colour in the dirty snow mountains truly artful. Just look at the numerous shades of brown, grey and white. A study for a painter.

This is so well presented and leaves many unanswered and worrying questions about how we treat our world. Excellent photography.
