Mike Alaska - Underground Music

This is not Carnegie Hall. This is the New York City Subway. The world of true underground music. If you are good, you draw a crowd. If not, people pass you faster than the Bronx express.

Drummer Mike Alaska plays with an intensity that makes you stop and watch and listen and miss your train.

That's real blood on his fingers. 100% hard core dedication.

this is E X C E L L E N T. Great reportage. Your photos are really good. I like the long exposure in 7 8 9. and the sharp focus in the others. Really great connection the the muscian. Amazing that he let you "in". or maybe he figured it was good publicity for him.

Thank you!
PS I love the MTA

Fantastic work. Your photos capture the "work" he goes through and I can almost hear his drumming.

Thanks. Mike is good guy. I saw him performing at Times Sq. and asked if I could shoot and he agreed. He's very animated and plays hard.

Un grand reportage.
Que serait le monde sans la musique-passion?
